To go with slightly mad's question...Did you ever play Scrabble with Freddie? We know how much he loved that game!

Hi Thor, do you have any stories or insight into Paul Prenter? I know the band didn't like him and obviously he betrayed Freddie horribly by selling stories to the tabloids? There was also a story about him pissing off Queen's contacts in America which helped sink their career over there.
HaHa Rainbow and Slightly Mad 22,
Unfortunately I have to admit that we never played any board games with Freddie. In New York, Freddie wanted excitment and we did our best to provide him with that. At that time, Freddie was into wilder things than that; a good example being the "Hat Party" and the "Snow Storrm Party". Partying was very prevalent in the early '80s in New York and Freddie loved it.
I know if Freddie had lived, we would often play Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit. These games are quite comforting as one grows older.
Just an aside, I used to play video trivia at a club in San Diego called "Flicks" with Andrew Cunanan (the killer of Gianni Versace). He was very smart and I had no idea he would be the perpetrator of that, in the future, horrific killing spree.

Hey raucousmonster,
I did not spend too much time with Paul Prenter. I would see him at Queen concerts, but he was kind of absorbed with my friend Joe Scardilli.
He reappeared at the Easter Hat Party, but I never knew until now that he turned out to be such a bad actor.

That's fascinating. You just never got a negative vibe from Paul Prenter.
Interesting.
Tons of people didn't get bad vibes from Paul before he started lying and selling Freddie's secrets to the press. Joe Fanelli, Peter Freestone, David Minns, David Evans and more were all friends with him and didn't have many negative things to say about him until he started acting up. I doubt Paul wore horns on his head everyday. He must have been somewhat likeable at some point for Freddie to have befriended him. What he did later on must have made Freddie feel awful.
Thor thank you for the kind words. It looks like you and I have something of the same schedule as I won't be able to check on the thread too often for a few days either. Thank you again for reaching out to me the way you did through message. I see why Freddie found a good friend in you.

Enjoy your time with your sister Thor, I hope you get another sign my friend.
I've heard through people in these forums that PP wasn't liked much by his own family but it's hard to know what's true with hearsay.
He could have been a narcissistic sociopath, all charming on a superficial level and snakey underneath the shell. Loads of good and intelligent people unwittingly get caught in such a person's orbit all the time. Ratty had him down as a snarling drug addict lol

In these pics Freddie looks so chill. He doesn't seem to care about hiding his teeth.

@Shvili, Yes I remember Jim Hutton talking about that performance with Samantha Fox in his book. Apparently it was a fun party! I had a friend in Indiana who had a huge crush on Sam Fox and she was thrilled to learn that Ms.Fox is into women! She said she has Sam on her "Freebie List", so if she ever gets the chance with Sam, her wife can't give her crap about it lol. I think everyone has one of those lists.
Freddie apparently had Burt Reynolds on his (but to his disappointment, Burt didn't swing that way lol).
I myself have Lana Del Rey and Jason Momoa (now thats a whole lotta man) on mine....hey, a girl can dream!

Hope you've had a good time with your sister, I expect the time went by too quick.
@Shvili - great pics of Freddie and Sam, I hadn't seen those ones before.

We all know Freddie was a big Aretha fan, but do you know what his opinion was of Diana Ross. Apparently, her and her daughter Traces are big Queen fans .

Source?
I can't remember where I read where Diana Ross is a fan. I recall a site that listed "celebrity fans" of Queen, plus she shown in The Magic Years talking about how "out there" Queen's music is.
Her daughtee, Tracy Ellis Ross can be seen wearing a Queen t-shirt in at least two episodes of the sitcom Black-ish.
