@Thor, you're welcome re the thoughts about the book, and thanks to you, I'm reminded to finish reading it! (I forget my books now they're on kindle, lol)
@Rainbow, that book also sounds like my kind of thing, another one to read when I get time off at Christmas :-)

Thor, I caught Lionel Richie in Houston a few years ago and when he came out to sing Endless Love he goes "You know.... I sang this next song with a real Queen. A diva. The Great Diana Ross! And when I told her I was coming to Houston Texas, I said 'Di, you HAVE to come! You know much Texas loves you. Will you come?'" he then posed and stretched his arms out to the wings of the stage to welcome her and said "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.......she said 'no'."
LOL
I did catch her here in Houston on a solo tour, though.

@Thor
With Freddie being a smoker, was his breath stank or rank as a result?

PJUSA,
Not a good question, sorry man.

Random Freddie and Trivial Pursuit story
Freddie and the rest of the band were playing Trivial Pursuit to pass the time whilst travelling. This game had been going on for days.
Freddie always insisted the answer given must match the answer exactly as written on the card, otherwise you could not have the point. He was really insistent and would not let the game go on if it wasn't correctly said.
Finally, near the end of the game, threw the dice, got in the middle and the question was "Who is the lead singer of the band Queen" well he burst out laughing and screamed "It's me Darlings!!
But the other team refused to let him have it, as it said Freddie Mercury on the card and not "Me, Darlings"
He was seriously pissed off about it.

That's outrageous! That would have been a legendary way to win a game of Triv - petty as hell for the guys not to let that one slide. Where did you hear that story? lol

I read Jacky Smith, the person who runs the Queen fan club, told that Trivial story in an interview once.
Really funny and very Freddie.

Sorry Thor, I know the question was crass and uncouth, but it was something I always wondered about.
Hi Thor,
Apart from the relative anonymity that Freddie enjoyed in the NYC clubs, was there anything in particular he preferred about the places you frequented together over the clubs he visited in London or was one place as good as the other, just different? Did he ever comment on the people, music, lights etc. When you visited Freddie in London, did you notice any big difference in the general atmosphere between clubs in the 2 cities?

Now PJUSA,
You know I won't answer questions like that. I learned my lesson after popping my mouth
off during the "Freddie's Loves" disaster. I was a bartender for years in smoke-filled rooms.
I became immune to any kinds smoking odors, even if the smoke was blown in my face.
To this day, I do not notice them nor am I particularly bothered by them and I was never a
first hand smoker.

The only smoke I really enjoy is SmokyQuartz...LOL
Talking about Freddie playing games.....this is a fun, short clip of Brian and Roger talking about playing Scrabble with Freddie. There is actually some footage of them playing together.on a bus. Love how relaxed and happy Freddie looks!

LOL Thor!! My user name is down to a smoky quartz pendant which, while not being expensive jewellery, really grabs people's attention. It seems to transfix people, lol. It's the only smoke I like as well.
PrimeJiveUSA, I don't know if this helps but I have a friend who smokes, but he's fastidious about his teeth hygiene and he's never had bad breath. He might smell of fresh smoke after a cigarette, but it doesn't last. I have a suspicion that most cases of bad breath are from tooth decay. Freddie, being a perfectionist, is unlikely to have had that.
Slightly Mad 22, that's hilarious about the trivial pursuit! A bit mean on poor Freddie though :-)
