Hello Thor, welcome back. I hope you enjoyed your time with your loved ones.
I have a rather silly, trivial question to ask. New York is reputed to make the best pizzas in the world, was Freddie a New York pizza fan? I've never read once that he ever ate one, even in Peter Freestone's great book where he goes to great lengths to list Freddie's favourite meals. And yes, I love my pizza, much to the detriment of my expanding waistline.

Strangely enough, my ex husband spoke with Peter Freestone and asked him what pizza Freddie liked and apparently he didn't eat it often because "he didn't like to get his hands dirty" and preferred tomatoes as a topping.

Also, Freddie sneezed quietly.

Yes, "what kind of pizza did he like" and "did he sneezed loudly" were the 2 questions he came up with when appealing to the man.

I kid you not.

Ignore the typo in my last comment lol. It won't let me edit my posts anymore

Haha, that's exactly the kind of thing I would ask, Villiers lol. I wouldn't for a moment imagine that Freddie would have gotten his delicate hands smothered in mozzarella and pizza sauce, I presume he would have either used a knife and fork or had someone feed the slices to him as he sat on his hands lol.
Y
Lol youre probably right!

I can't imagine him eating one for some reason haha. Or spaghetti.
All this talk of pizza has made me want to order Dominos...

I recalled something from Jim Hutton book when I saw you talking about food.
In the book he says that sometimes instead that Joe cooking dinner, someone went to buy some odd hamburgers which Freddie liked much,or fish and chips which they would eat straight from the paper.
Then each cat would get one fish which Jim would carefully clean from bones.

Hi back Thor, really glad to have you back :)

About the food, I remember once Freddie said: 'I eat and shit like a bird' lol always so delicate haha
C
Has anyone else noticed how Freddie often mentioned hamburgers in interviews? Maybe it was a running joke in Queen circles haha

Hey Beemack,
As popular as pizza was/is in New York, Freddie and my group never went to a pizza parlor, despite them being on almost every street corner. Whether he had pizza at home, I cannot tell you. I DO remember eating hamburgers once or twice at a popular restaurant named "David's Pot Belly" right in the heart of the West Village on Christopher St. Their hamburgers were cooked in a brick oven and served with potato pancakes instead of the ubiquitous french fries.

Hi Villiers, captain jory, Invisible Woman and RBoulain,
I hope my comments to beemack answer some of the pizza and hamburger conversation. HaHa, I love both.

Thanks Thor, those hamburgers sure sound delicious! All this food talk is making MY pot belly rumble! Ah well, there goes the diet...!!

Beemack,
I'm no skinny mini anymore myself. Isn't ageing wonderful?

Haha, well there ain't much any of us can do about the onset of time, so best to fix a grin and battle on as best we can lol.

Kind of a weird question but I've always wondered how Freddie might have reacted when he found out his friends own a Queen band shirt or his albums. Did you know of any of his friends who had Queen merch or his records in their collection?
I mean something they purchased on their own, not an item he gave to them? I'd imagine he would get a kick out of them wearing his merch but it must be a nice feeling to know your friends also enjoy your work
