"Budgie" is short for "Budgerigar" - if that helps, Thor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budgerigar
In the early 1960's my parents had one. I doubt people keep caged birds much anymore, thank goodness.

Hi Shvili,
Thor has been pretty forthcoming in admitting there many parts of Freddie's life he does not know about. If Thor (or Thor and Lee) decide to write a book, it is not going to be a biography, but reflections on his /their friendship with Freddie. I bet there are responses Thor has given to various questions that that could have been even more detailed, but for the proposes of this thread, he answers many of them succinctly instead of in narrative form.
As for your statement "As far as getting to know him, you either were not interested or he didn’t see you as someone he would feel comfortable sharing his true self with." Well, that puzzles me. Not sure how you ever derived that from the many pages of this thread, but you are certainly entitled to your interpretation. Those times when Freddie shared his "true self" with Thor are probably deeply personal and private; not the kind of stories that Thor would be willing to reveal to the public.
In terms of signs....Sometimes there is an intersection of events that seem to go beyond coincidence...we can chose to dismiss them, or we can look for a deeper meaning or "sign". We've all probably had experiences like that once or twice in our lives.

Hi Martin Packer,
Thank you for your information about the "budgie" I was surprised to see that they are native to Australia as
the only time I ever heard the name budgie was from a young South African girl. But then again, the parakeet is
not native to North America, so I should not have assumed that stevendabudgie was South African, perhaps
he is from Australia. We will see if he replies back.
Additionally, I was happy to hear you say that caged birds have lost popularity and I would certainly agree
'thank goodness."

Rainbow,
Thanks so much for your well worded message to Shivili, much more civil than my sarcastic reply.

Welcome BridgetUSA,
I was so, so glad to hear about your Marie's Crisis birthday celebration for your sister. I have such fond and fun memories of
working there in the 70's. Nice that the fun continues to happen there 43 years later. Thank you for adding your post. Great!

Thor,
I am a German. Budgerigars are the most popular pet birds here. My family had two when I was a child. Check this out :D

Book? Thor you have a customer here. I'll buy it.
Haven't caught up with the thread yet, as having a crazy time at the moment, but actually there's loads Thor has talked about here..........add to that reflections and perhaps other content that he's not just giving away...
And the book would be more treasured because Thor has taken the time to get to know us.

Wow, Roy Clark...wasn't he on HeeHaw...a classic TV show.
Sacred show for Republicans.
Hi Thor,
ich komme aus Heidelberg. I was born and raised in Karlsruhe which is half-way between Heidelberg and Stuttgart. When i was 20 I moved to Heidelberg and have been living here since. I want to use this opportunity to express how much Freddie inspired me. He´s the reason I became interested in music. When I was14, 15 I became a real Queen fan. Before I had heard their music only when it was on radio but even as a child I had always liked the voice and the music even though I didn´t know who they were. I was surprised to learn that besides WWR, WTC or Princes of the Universe they also did " A Kind of Magic" and "Radio GaGa". Well when i was 16 I wanted to try to sing like him :D
So went to a vocal coach. Because of other issues in my life I never got to "a professional" level, but the interest in music stayed with me. I sang in student choirs and started taking piano lessons. Then I did nothing for a few years, but started again about 2 years ago. I sing in a band. We are amateurs, my mates take lessons, but it´s mostly fun when we come together. Unfortunately Queen material is beyond our capabilities.
Freddie was really an inspiration in my life
Btw: My half brother and two cousins of mine went see Queen in Mannheim in 1986. All three could never forget the experience!
