Welcome Lee
Hi Katydyd5, I have sent you a pm about some good Freddie books. :) I did not want to hijack Thor's thread.
That's really dangerous lol. Be sure to stay away from anything that has anything to do with Lesley Ann Jones. All books from her or quoting her are trash (Somebody To Love, I'm looking at you). The only solid proof books on Freddie were from Peter Freestone, Jacky Smith, and David Evans (Ratty's was good too). People that knew him personally. Don't waste your money on anything else. Also everyone who wants to know about Freddie in a genuine light should see The Untold Story. It was the first officially approved documentary on him and included his family members, the band, Peter Freestone and many others. Once you see that, you'll be able to spot false info in books other docs made by people who didn't know the guy. I was talking to my friend about this last night. Way too many books are out there about Freddie filled with false info.
^^^^ Totally true!
Most of the books are just re-hashes of the same old stuff. And lots of made-up stuff.
That was the massive problem I had with Somebody to Love. People told me I needed to read it to understand certain parts of Freddie's life but they meant the Lesley Ann Jones rehash sections and I nearly laughed in their faces!
Jones has done nothing but damage to Freddie's legacy and created myths about him that we can't shake off. She's a gay hater. That is one piece of information that needs spreading around the internet.
Wow,
Just look at all of you, welcoming Lee so warmly. It will be fantastic when he finishes reading this volume and we can
start a new one (in time) with both of us represented in the title.
As you can see, I am so excited too. Welcome Lee (our dear Kathleen).
Ooh yes! Hi Lee, I can't wait til you join properly/start a new thread. It will be so cool to talk to both of you, bouncing memories off each other.
The queendom is full of stale air at the moment with the same old sexuality debates again. NEW FREDDIE STORIES ARE OXYGEN
Thor, when you start a new thread, will you let us know? I'm not sure I'd ever find it otherwise. I have a quick question that you may have answered and if so I apologize. You mentioned being at Freddie's concerts. I'm thinking Philly was the first but I could be way off on that. Doesn't really matter I guess. What I wanted to know was where you watched the concert from when you were a guest? Were you out front with the crowd? Were you in a VIP section somewhere? Backstage? If out front, could Freddie see you and did he acknowledge you, or was he too busy playing to all of the fans?
Hi and Welcome Lee.
I look forward to hearing your memories and stories alongside those of Thor's. This is such a great opportunity for all of us. I hope to chat more very soon, this week hopefully, and help to spark those memories. :-)
Hi Lee (great to have you here as well) and Thor (Sorry, but I am way too eager and don't have the patience to wait for a new thread!)
I wanted to ask you about this book I came across - Conversations with Freddie Mercury by Ronald Ritter (Author),? Sussan Evermore (Author).
https://www.amazon.ca/Conversations-Freddie-Mercury-Ronald-Ritter-ebook/dp/B00CWAGXOS/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1510790022&sr=1-1&keywords=conversations+with+freddie+mercury
To say the very least, it is very strange! Sussan has chanelled Freddie and is talking to him after his death!!! While I have an extremely open mind about death and beyond, this seems a bit much. What are your thoughts on this? I'd love to hear them.
(In any case, I'm going to buy the book - just out of curiosity if nothing else!)
I read bits of that online, as well as similar books on other people - nuts!
It's like they read some biographies, mostly Lesley Ann Jones' Barbara orgy scenes, then put it all together to create spirit Freddie.
Let us know what you think lol
Oh yes I read that book. The real life Freddie was gay, but apparently GHOST Freddie was bisexual LOL. Lesley Ann Jones crap in another book! Oh, dear.
Rainbow, I never got your PM. Try again?
Welcome Lee!!!
Thor, Mike Moran told me they wanted to do the second solo album by Freddie, but Barcelona happened like a miracle, and they descarted the second solo album (there demos). But Freddie wanted to do a lot of things with Mike, like a balllet.
Hey Katydyd,
Of course I will let you know. I definitely want this thread to expand and give Lee well deserved credit for his contributions to this
wonderful story of Freddie in New York and beyond.
