Oh my apologies. I must have missed that one. I'll go back and read it. Im not sure what to make of him to be honest! I did enjoy his music and performances but his story seemed very strange and I never knew what to believe. I guess Jacko will always be a mystery!
Sorry about the people acting shitty on this forum Thor. Did you ever hang out with the road crew or other employees of Queen when you were spending time backstage? I know you mentioned hanging out with the New York daughters backstage, so I was just curious.

Interesting that you say this given that it appears to be QPL's (Jim's) intention to do the absolute opposite no that he's gone. I would imagine, though, that a man with such great intellect as Freddie would certainly have an opinion on what is being done to his and the band's legacy now.....

No, the only people other than Freddie that we spent time with was Peter Freestone
and to a much smaller degree, with Joe Fanelli, but the latter only during London visits.

What may have happened after Freddie passed, I am not aware of. I feel that
Brian and Roger are trying their hardest to keep things going beyond 1991, which
I have mixed feelings about but mostly...good for them!
My prediction is that Queen, John Deacon and of course Freddie will reemerge
as the Ultimate Kings (ok...Queens) of Rock and Roll Bands after the upcoming movie.
I just hope they do the whole story fairly. For a few years now more and more
Queen music is being heard with certain commercials in the US, and not just
Bohemian Rhapsody. "The Voice" contestants always seem to make a splash when
they sing a good Queen song....I love Jordan Smith's version of "Somebody to Love"
from about 2 years back.

approached by an English TV network to participate in a Freddie
project...it had NO working or final name. We assumed that we were
going to be flown out to London so we showed interest. When we

said it would be a tribute to Freddie As it turned out,the meeting was
going to be in LA, not London. They said they would put us up at the
Beverly Hilton Hotel. Well, that sounded kind of classy so we agreed.
At first as we were interviewed the questions seemed quite reasonable.
But once we felt comfortable, the questions changed to rather personal
ones. Between takes, they gave us champagne...we were impressed.
I am not saying they "drugged" us to answer their questions, but in
retrospect, these two amateurs, Lee and I, did not think we could refuse
to answer their questions. After "all" they went through to make this
production, we even answered seedy questions. We left and discussed what
just happened. Well, we thought, since this was a TRIBUTE to Freddie,
they would edit that stuff out. We were duped!!

Apart from concert singing, did you ever hear Freddie sing in other settings? Would he be the type to burst out in song when he heard a great tune on the car radio or when out in a club? Would there be music in the background when you visited him at his apartment in NYC or Garden Lodge? We know he liked Prince, Liza Minelli, Aretha Franklin...just was curious if you heard him play their music or any other kind of music for that matter?

Towne Car in NY, we always had the radio on (remember this was the early
'80s. In my car, I think I still had an 8-track...LOL If a song came up that Freddie
liked he got all excited like a teenager, had the driver turn up the volume, and
insisted that everyone listen. I think I already mentioned that he loved the songs
"Africa" and "Roseanna" and he would always say..."Oh just listen to this part"

Thanks for this little gem Thor! :-) I'm imagining Freddie must have liked them, not just because they're great songs, but because of the harmonies. I can almost imagine Queen singing them.

In the beginning they seemed to make music for art's sake and later seemed focussed more on writing hits... did you notice a change with him after the enormously successful "The Game" album and maybe the disappointment with sales of Hot Space and perhaps a desire to write more commercially successful material in The Works?
Also as you have talked about substances...any indication he took any to relieve tension or give him energy during shows? When you see footage he always seems to have such incredible energy even before he hit the stage? Just curious and will understand if you prefer not to answer
