Hello LOTV,
As I have never seen and heard Adam Lambert and Queen in
concert, I really don't know. I have no idea at what Freddie
would have said about Adam. No one was imitating his style
when I knew Freddie that I know of.

Bonjour,

Thanks, fair enough.
We shall just have to take Brian's word for it.

I saw an audience with Straker this week, have to say I'd rather attend an event hosted by yourself based on the evidence I have seen. Freddie clearly saw something in Straker I can't.

Phoebe always comes across as a very nice, genuine chap. So too Mike Moran, although I sense in Mike Moran a feeling that Freddie was above Queen, even wasted to an extent.

Hello Thor !
me again .... can I ask : what did it "feel" like to discuss music with Freddie ? Was it intimidating ? Were you guys all on an equal level ? Was he ever dismissive or inadvertently treated you more like a fan ? Did he get any inspiration from you ? Where you ever surprised about his reactions when you maybe offered your opinion/ insights ? Was it more like small talk before you hit the bars etc or something that kept all of you busy for a while ? Just wondering what it must have been like........

Um, dude, Thor has said he didn't really discuss music with Sir Fred of Mercury.

I was refering to the cab ride ( "Roseanna", "Africa") MJ moments etc. Thanks for anticipating the answer LOTV ! :)

Hello LOTV,
What I recall of Peter Straker, the handful of times that I met him, is
that he had pretentious airs about him which I really didn't like. My group got
the feeling from him that we were American commoners and HE was British
Royalty because he knew Freddie. Not my cup of tea. His attitude reminded
me of an incident in Atlanta I had during the annual "Hotlanta" celebration at
a very gorgeous Marriott Suites Hotel, Into the pool area strutted a loud queen.
After about 5 minutes he was overheard by ALL, bitching,.."I don't like this
Marriott Suites place....take me to the Ritz" and abruptly stormed out of the
pool area.

Oh, oh kokax,
MJ and Toto were discussed at length. Just go back a
few pages. I don't think I could offer anymore factual input
to those conversations. No big deal my friend, Ask another
one any time.

Hi Thor....

So if the Bohemian Rhapsody film delves into Freddie's life in NYC, who do you want to play you in the movie! :)
S
Hi Thor -

Has Freddie ever mentioned absolutely anything about working on Queen albums? Solo albums?

I hope this is not a repeat question ...

Hey Rainbow61,
I probably can assure you that I might possibly be mentioned
because of my name, but there will be no portrayal of me or my
group. I don't believe that Brian and Roger ever knew how close
we were with Freddie in the early '80s. With the (disappointing)
PG rating I am sure that Freddie as a gay man will be minimized
and his relationship with Mary and perhaps even with that Barbara
woman in Munich will be glorified.
T
Hey Panchgani,
Yes, I did go over the musical discussions, but this is new:
Freddie was very proud of his contributions to movies namely
"Flash Gordon", "The Highlander" and the "Hotel New Hampshire"
and though we didn't go into critical discourse of these movies, he
enjoyed telling us about them on the phone and during our visits
to Garden Lodge. There is a somewhat amusing story about
his words about his solo album single "I Was Born to Love You"
but I can't remember what page it might be on.
T
I doubt Barbara will be mentioned. Brian and Roger know she wasnt his lover. I have had a brief conversation with Brian about Barbara before. Mary will be a big part of it though. She was very important to Freddie

Hello again Thor, and once again, I think that your sharing of your stories without giving away every moment or the crap a very small number of people is commendable on you as a person, and really nice to see Freddie Mercury the man come to light instead of the performer. He seemed to be supreme as both.

Asked earlier in the Billy Squier question I had before (and thanks for the answer), was a question which you didn't answer, but just addressed in your most recent post, and that was whether the PG rating would whitewash the whole gay world that Freddie revelled in, and would you be disappointed if it were sanitized. I think your answer tells the story, and that's why I am not really looking forward to the film, think it'll be a no warts type of biopic and that seems to be far from Freddie's life and the band's fractious relationships. Thanks again for the anecdotes, well told and you're very thoughtful in your replies, take care!

I'm still keeping my hopes up for Jon Lovitz being cast as Barbara Valentin.

He'd be absolutely perfect

@Matt Z HA! Absolutely right.
