I get quite sick of hearing "Freddie would've loved it" from people (regarding Lambert) as if they're speaking for him.

EXACTLY my thoughts. And I so doubt it, I wont even start lol

New York Daughters @gardenlodge. Waving Thor!

Thor, loved the story about your mother.. I have noticed that one of the bravest thing to do is admit to believing in something not 'proved' by science. matt z had started a topic (very interestingly) about 'after death', and there was a very lively discussion. What makes you think he wouldnt like Adam? Freddie by his own admission liked Boy George and George Michael and Adam is very reminiscent of both. Brian and Roger say Freddie would have liked him. That's not the fans making that claim. Those 2 guys knew Freddie and his musical tastes for years. I'm inclined to believe them when they say Freddie likely would have liked him. Im sorry but I've had the pleasure of speaking with both men on multiple occasions and neither of them strike me as liars or opportunists. Nor does Peter Freestone who has also agreed with them in the past on Lambert. As has Kashmira and apparently Jer Bulsara before she passed on.

Thats the never ending topic. They say Freddie would have loved him to defend themselves, in my opinion. I don't think you can ever compare Boy George and George Michael to Adam, I mean not in any possible world.
There is also a video of Brian where he says Freddie would feel envy of Adam hiting higher notes live and how the show they have is not less than the one they did with Freddie. Very low, in my opinion too.
This whole Adam thing is the endless debate so I wont say much more but 'knowing' Freddie and his values, he would have NOT liked Adam at all, in my opinion.
T
Freddie himself said he was jealous of George Michael's voice and Peter Straker's for being able to hit higher notes so it's not impossible for Brian to thought the same about Adam. Also Adam is actually compared to George Michael quite often. Once by George himself (who liked him very much) and another time by Elton John who also loves his voice. Why would Kashmira, Elton, George Michael and countless others say Freddie would have liked him if they don't benefit from the band touring with Adam? That doesn't make any sense. I would like to go on record as saying that although Ive met Adam with Brian while obtaining autographs and I do think he is a kind young man, I personally don't think his voice fits the catalog and I don't consider myself an Adam Lambert fan. So this isn't a "glambert" ranting here. It's someone who doesn't understand how people can question those who actually knew Freddie and his tastes.
T
Values? What values did Freddie have that would make him dislike Adam? Adam is gay man who by all accounts seems kind and humble. He works hard and looks to genuinely care for Brian and Roger. I don't see anything about Lambert that would have gone against Freddie's values. I'd like to know what is, RB

^^^^ I can't say what Freddie would have thought about Adam, but Brian and Roger are only trying to promote their show. You really cannot expect them to say 'Adam is not up to par' or 'This show is certainly not as good as the ones we did with Freddie', so in this matter, you really cannot expect an honest opinion from them. Adam's popularity and love for Queen's music makes him a good fit for them, so....
(Personally I don't think AL comes even close to Freddie or George Michael or Boy George, but that is just me.)

Adam Lambert is compared to George Michael literally everyday. What on earth are you talking about? That's almost what he's known for the most. I have met Adam just once but I can tell you that good guy charm of his is not an act. He really is a humble dude who is really thrilled to be in the position he's in because he's a fan of the band. I'm also curious about the "values Freddie had" that would cause him to dislike Adam. I don't see Freddie having an issue with a fellow gay singer who liked his work and tries to honor it.
R
Uhm, whatever Freddie said himself, I'll believe it, and Adam being a gay man has nothing to do with anything, but HUMBLE? Give me a break lol. As I said, a never ending debate and Im really tired of it and reading people saying "he would have liked him", I dont agree and thats my opinion. Everybody have their own, some just agreeing with what others say and others thinking by themselves as I do. I dont need to explain myself any further, I just disagree ;)

Sorry, I was replying to RBoulain, but The Squirelly One beat me to it. :)
I think AL is a very nice person and very decent in every way, I just don't like his singing style - at least not with Queen.
T
Right. But again you're insinuating that Brian and Roger are liars which... I won't lie to you.. I really don't like. Queen and it's members have always been perfectionists. They also aren't bankrupt. Why would 2 perfectionists who aren't in need of fast cash claim Adam is good if they don't believe it and go on tour with him? Also why would so many other people who knew freddie say the same as them when they don't profit from a Queen+Adam tour? That makes no sense.
T
Me too, Noorie

Yes, "humble". Ive met the guy. How many time have you met him where you can say for a fact that he isn't humble? Seems like someone who just doesnt like Adam and can't be mature about it in my opinion. Even Squirrelly doesn't think he's a good fit for Queen but agrees he's humble. You still didn't answer the values question.
