Hi Villiers,
If I could say anything to Freddie it would probably be that Brandon and I have managed to
stay in each other's lives for 32 years so far and 25 of those years are being spent as just
special friends. I think he would like to know that as he did a similar thing with Joe Fanelli.
Freddie didn't know Brandon as he knew Joe S., John M., Lee N. and myself. However,
Brandon was left with a warm, appreciative feeling for Freddie through my stories and actually
spending quality time with him 3 times at the Garden Lodge. He mourned the death of
Freddie as much as anyone. Thankfully he had at least, some experience with that Freddie touch.

Also Villiers,
On our last visit to Freddie, five months before his death. he asked Lee to bring two items, namely the
(set to music) Slide Show I've mentioned before AND the lighted Fruit Hat. We had a wonderful time
going over the old stories and the sometimes unflattering pictures. Freddie would say.."Oooooh, just
look at the state of me" and break out into a laugh. Kathleen did his Fruit Hat thing and as Freddie
was laughing, Lee would look at him very seriously and say "What? What? as if he thought he appeared
normal. A very nice send off to Freddie.
Ah, with alls these memories back in my head ,....."Freddie I miss you SO MUCH!"

Hey LOTV,
I am staying away from the Adam Lambert controversy. I am conflicted between what
the living Freddie might have thought and what the spirit of Freddie does think.
T
Villiers,
Thank you for trying to help with my e-mail thing. To answer your question, I only use my laptop computer
and never my cell phone. I have big arthritic fingers that hate hitting the correct letter...LOL

Awww Thor thanks for sharing that! Seriously I know you've been told this a trillion times already but you and your friends brought him so much happiness, I can't thank you enough for making my hero's life so full of laughter and light.

Thor, me again: I have a question about Joe F. I know after he and Freddie split up, Freddie invited him back into his life, but what was the nature of their relationship? I have heard they were more than friends again in the mid-80s but have no idea whether this is true or not. What was he like as a person?

Hello again Shakespeare's Sister,
For those who do not know and I assume most of you, "Strubble Peter" pronounced [Sch-stroo-bell Pey-ter] in German,
is a wonderful collection of short stories not unlike some of Aesop's Fables. The point of each story is to teach children
valuable life lessons. For example...you must not make fun of people that look different from you. The wizard-like storyteller
catches a group of children making fun of the only black child in the group. Disgusted with this behavior, he takes each child
and dips them into a big vat of black ink to teach them this lesson. Obviously, this book was definitely NOT written in the
USA in the1950's. We couldn't have handled it back then. But I took the message seriously as well as many others in the book.

HaHa smilefairyqueen,
Of course he would ask me my opinion of anyone he "fancied." I had to keep an open mind
because Freddie liked the more stout people and I, the thinner ones. Freddie called his type
"barrels" and if they became his boyfriend he would refer to him as "My Barrel"..LOL.
T
LOTV,
Thanks for that link. What a beautiful song that I have never heard before. I met Cliff Richard at Freddie's house
but I thought his last name was "Richards" so when you said Richard, I was thrown off. I did not recognize Mr.
Richard when he first arrived at the Garden Lodge one day, but Brandon knew him immediately because his
favorite female artist is Olivia Newton John and they sang "Suddenly" together. He seemed very friendly and sincere,
so no doubt, a friend of Freddie's.
P.S. Sorry to equate the "Elvis of the UK", Cliff Richard with "Mary Richards", the main character in the old
"Mary Tyler Moore Show"...LOL
T
LOTV,
I never heard Freddie call his music disposable in person. But if he said it himself in interviews I guess
it was true. Why, I have no idea.
Now, what he did say a few times WAS disposable was his look from the 70's. You may remember me
quoting Freddie, commenting on this by saying "Ooooh, I looked horrible dahling...BUT IT WORKED. lol
D
HA! Thor my old babysitter used to call men "barrels" and when I asked her why she said it was because she liked to wrap her legs around them and straddle them like barrels! NOT a very appropriate conversation for a babysitter to have with a child but she was about 19 at the time and was as wild as they come. Took me years after that put it together and figure out what "straddle" meant. Im going to go ahead and assume Freddie called them that for the same reason L O L

By the way that sitter was gorgeous and was my first crush at age 8. Very much a fat bottomed girls situation in my home at the time L O L

Welcome TRS-Romania,
That is a fun clip that I did not know existed until sponsoring this thread.
We all kind of looked silly then, but Freddie and Lee Nolan looked good.
Lee wins the award for the least changed old fool of our, now small, group...lol
T
Thanks noorie,
I will look for that link when I have more time. Words from our very own "Bard"
should be very interesting. lol

OMG Villiers,
So FUNNY and CLEVER...I am still laughing...thank you.
T
Villier's...I mean the MJ thing.
Now to answer your question. when I met Joe Fanelli he was working as a chef at the
Garden Lodge. He seemed to me like a well educated, serious, no-nonsense type of
guy BUT with a GREAT sense of humor when he was not working so hard in the kitchen
making wonderful meals with special touches for Freddie and his guests. He went to
the clubs with us (Freddie did not go) just once and was such a fun and lively person.
So sad that he died too soon.
