HELP... SOS... All QueenZoners

The lack of e-mail notification is driving me CRAZIER than the Fine Young Cannibles were driven! I have to keep searching for my name on
QueenZone and get past all those stupid ads for "Find out Thor Arnold's criminal history" and "Learn all of Thor Arnold's personal history"
All I have to say, as Freddie's favorite line from one of his favorite old movies (The Women) goes is "PARDON me while I UNSWALLOW" haha.

Have you tried it through a different web browser?

Hey, I think I am caught up. Please let me know if I missed a question. By the way, I am staying far
away from the Adam Lambert discussion so, just read my last thought on that subject, which I wrote
prior to the argument.

Also Adblock (browser extension) is your friend. If you're on PC that is

Also, I just sent an e-mail to the support center of this site. Hoping for help soon,

By the way, did anyone have a reaction to my response about Freddie's use of the c word.
Someone thought it meant that Freddie was demeaning to women. I hope you all read my
explanation of Freddie's use of this word and it's context.

Thor and Villiers,

Thanks for sharing your stories and thoughts on life after death. A fascinating topic for certain. It seems like for most people, what we believe tends to evolve as we try to gain some perspective on painful events in our own lives. Maybe it was that way for Freddie too?

Noorie,

I know you mentioned that Freddie was Parsi in all ways except in terms of religion. But I am curious about what Parsis believe in terms of the afterlife. As Thor mentioned, he has seen people who reconnect to the religion/God as they face death. (Well I am paraphrasing...I can't find the original post) Believing in God or some higher power can be a source of comfort to some...It's possible it was that way for Freddie. No, I am not saying he became a believer, but the teachings of his youth might have crossed his thoughts as he faced his own mortality, so I was wondering what those teachings might have been. Thanks.

Hello again Thor. I asked you a question a few weeks back then somehow managed to get locked out of my account so couldn't post. This board doesn't like me as I've already had to abandon one account, meaning that there are 2 Darthritis's on here.

You are the the best thing to happen to this site in forever. It's wonderful and extremely heartwarming reading all your lovely anecdotes and I've laughed out loud at many (sorry but your comment about Dave Clark's face made me howl) Lovely bloke and selfless in his care for Freddie but he does look increasingly terrifying.

Verrrrrrrrry interesting hearing your impressions of the people around him. That's put me off Peter Straker, hearing that he was up his own arse (as we'd say in the UK). Did you know that Freddie never shared his AIDS diagnosis with him and refused to see him at all in the last year of his life as they'd had a falling out?

Mary, I think that she never really moved forward emotionally from Freddie. I believe she stayed in her role as longtime supportive best friend because she knew that was the only way she'd be able to hold onto him. From her interviews it seems like Freddie's social circle was also hers and that she didn't really have any friends of her own and she didn't retain them after Freddie died. Sounds sad to me.
It's great that you've confirmed that Peter Freestone is as warm and lovely as he always comes across as and that you had some good times with poor Joe Fanelli before he too died.

Your arthritic fingers must be so overworked with all these questions coming at you thick and fast haha. I feel your pain, because you'll realise from my username that I have arthritis too - rheumatoid - for nearly 5 years. I take a cocktail of drugs but overall it's pretty well controlled. The boyfriend nicknamed me Darthritis lol. Which type do you have?

Now I'm back on, I'm struggling to think of questions that haven't been answered already. I do have to say that the crowd Freddie hung around with in Munich don't seem to have cared about him like his 'daughters' clearly did - and still do.

In an interview, Queen's sometime producer, Reinhold Mack said that Freddie once had a mini emotional breakdown in the studio, threw everyone out then broke down in tears saying that he felt his life was out of control. He'd woken up alone in a dumpster with no idea how he'd got there. That was quite upsetting to listen to and my first thought was "where the hell were his friends?" This of course was in Munich. Did Freddie ever express any worries regarding his lifestyle? I do remember you saying that you were all concerned for him during the Munich years.

Were you aware of UK law in the 1980s regarding homosexuality? It had been 'decriminalised' but: it was illegal for gay men to pass their numbers to each other in order to meet up for an encounter later!!! Oh and if 2 men had sex, it had to be in a private building with no other people present. So if Freddie and Jim went to their bedroom, while Peter and Joe were in the kitchen - they were breaking the law. Ridiculous.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and considerate replies. It's so amazing and wonderful that you're here talking to us and giving us your time. Not surprising Freddie valued you as his friend. X

It comes down to people not understanding his sense of humor. Chris Taylor asked Freddie once if he was having sex with Barbara and he said "No! She's a whale!"

No, he wasnt into women but he also wasn't saying it to genuinely hurt anyone. It was a campy way to say "no".

Barbara also said he used to call her a cow lol

What on earth is happening at your end then Thor, LOL!

I'm on a laptop too, I just type in www.queenzone.com/forums and it brings me straight here... Don't know if that helps at all, but I like things simple, lol.

I just tried doing something else to see if it's what you might be doing and I got an ad 'Buy or Rent Thor!' LOL!!

Damn, this person took it so wrong! I thought it was really funny. Love Freddie's sense of humour and how he wasn't afraid to use vulgar language haha

Yes, yes Villiers,
But I was commenting on what he HARMLESSLY meant by using that word (c**t) in reference to Montserrat Caballe and Jennifer Holliday.
As I said, he meant it in a gay kinda way that he was astounded and dumbfounded by the depths of their vocal abilities. IT WAS A COMPLIMENT
presented to his GAY male listeners only. No one thought it was degrading at all. Well, except the person who took exception to this comment and
misconstrued his intention.
I have nothing to say about Barbara, as I did not know she existed except when I read that Lesley Ann Jones book after originally skipping
the Barbara Valentin section. And saw it in all it's nonsensical , self centered attempt to change history.
He occasionally called Phoebe a cow as Brandon occasionally calls me. All meant in jest and never taken seriously. If he sees me eating too
much, being an animal scientist, he may say "haven't you filled all FIVE of your stomachs yet, you COW." and we laugh it off despite the fact
that I am a 62 years old heavier than I used to be.

THIS ^ It's good to hear this from someone who actually knew Freddie regardless of the fact you never met her. The first time I read it, the book had been about him coming to terms with his sexuality, accepting himself.

Then suddenly he gets 'turned' by her and wanted to marry her. I didn't know him, but it seemed so out of character for the man I'd been reading about!
