Looking in Phoebe's book, the balding guy is Jim Cruz apparently!
They appear here too

As with many gay boys, I was much closer with my mother than I was with my father. but since he had been involved in some back stage theatrical work, HE came
around to my being gay almost immediately, He even surprised me by coming to my gay bar workplace in full Air Force (Reserves) uniform...lol It took my
mother about another year to reach that place. For their 25th wedding anniversary, I took them to the gay bar which was also a restaurant and the owner
greeted my parents with glowing words about me, paid for the entire meal and sent us a bottle of Dom Perignon. HaHa, don't give the owner Lew Katz too
much credit, because he later killed not one, but two of his male lovers and escaped to Brazil, with rumors that he had complete body and facial reconstruction.

Yes Villiers...Jim Cruz...(that rat)..LOL
Noorie,
Thank you for the great "mini-lesson". I know I can just Google a topic and read about it, but your background makes the info you share far more interesting and authentic to me. I especially loved your beautiful story about the Catholic priest's experiences with the dying. Yes, I truly hope Freddie felt that kind of peace when he passed.

Smoky Quartz,
What a powerful and moving experience. I too am a questioning person, but something like that would have given me a great deal of comfort when my own father passed away.

Thor,
Gosh, what a story about your parent's anniversary dinner. You certainly have met a lot of interesting people! You really sparked my curiosity about this Lew Katz guy so I had to look him up. Turns out he was apprehended in 2002, went to prison in Green Haven Correctional in New York, and was paroled in 2015 when he was in his late 80's. Not sure about the plastic surgery part....how John Dillinger of him if true!
Here's a question that might have gotten lost from a few pages back:
Did you ever hear Freddie express any concerns during those times he experienced problems with his voice due to nodules.? Did he have a regular specialist for that issue...maybe someone in NYC or back in London? Did you have any advice for him or know doctors you could refer him to that he would trust?

Rainbow - sorry to hear about your Father too. Yes this experience was something I've never had before or since.
Hi, Thor! I am still following this thread with great interest. So many great insights about Freddie... Thank you!
As for some guy committing murder and escaping to Brazil, that is very unlikely. There is an extradition treaty in force and virtually all US requests are complied with. I happen to work next door, in the same Office as the guys that work with this here in Brazil, so I have very good information on this issue.
Thank you once again for your generous storytelling and for keeping the spirits light in this thread!
Cheers,

Nice discussion folks...interesting opinions. I've only seen Adam Lambert on videos so cannot
comment on any personality traits that he may or may not have. All I CAN say is thank God
Brian and Roger didn't pick Miss Peter Straker for lead singer...lol.
Thor...no matter that Peter Straker deems himself "royalty" the vast percentage of the globe asks..."Peter Straker? Who the fuck is that?"
@Arnaldo
From what I read, Lew Katz went to Panama.

Thor,
In terms of the "New York Daughters", were you already a group of friends and then Freddie came along or did you befriend some of them after meeting Freddie? Would you say that you knew Freddie better or were closer to him than the others, or were you all more or less on equal footing regarding your friendships?

OK, so I just tried to answer questions twice and suddenly, I lost the text after 10 minutes of
typing...each time. I will answer them instead tomorrow . Good Night All.

And many of those who do know who he is only know him as Freddie's friend. I'd never heard of him.
Geez. Peter Straker bashing thread. He's a diva in his own mind. But he's also a competent singer from the late 60's era musical theater thing... if he happens to put on airs I could imagine it's all in the name of promotion.
It's not the kindest "business". Many do it because they love it, or for its effect on their own life. I'm just pretty shocked by the Peter Straker bashing.
I don't know the guy, just saying it's a bit much.

What makes you think he wouldnt like Adam? Freddie by his own admission liked Boy George and George Michael and Adam is very reminiscent of both. Brian and Roger say Freddie would have liked him. That's not the fans making that claim. Those 2 guys knew Freddie and his musical tastes for years. I'm inclined to believe them when they say Freddie likely would have liked him. Im sorry but I've had the pleasure of speaking with both men on multiple occasions and neither of them strike me as liars or opportunists. Nor does Peter Freestone who has also agreed with them in the past on Lambert. As has Kashmira and apparently Jer Bulsara before she passed on.
Think whatever, but no one KNOWS what Freddie would've thought on that matter. No one.
And I find the whole "Freddie would've loved Adam" remarks quite disrespectful. He might've got along with him, but singing for Queen? That's another matter. The man isn't here to speak for himself.
May and Taylor have been a spent force creatively since the 90s. Be it Queen+ Five, Wyclef Jean, May's collaboration with Dappy, American Idol appearances of doing Pepsi adverts... or Lambert. Queen+ activities are generally tacky.
So I don't particularly rate their opinion on music these days..
And no, it doesn't make May or Taylor liars or opportunists, but perhaps mistaken or a tad deluded.
I don't think Lambert is reminiscent of George Micheal at all either. Lambert certainly doesn't sound like him. George Micheal had a wonderful voice. Lambert has a grating, harsh voice.
As for Boy George, what he was doing back in the 80s was quite daring. I'm seeing nothing of the sort with Lambert. He's not on the same level. And he lacks the authenticity of either George Micheal or Boy George.
And seriously? Peter Freestone or the Bulsara's?
