Hey matt z,
HaHa "competent singer" does not suggest any love lost with you...lol
Straker is "bashed" by a few here because of his superiority complex
which is a trait completely absent from Freddie's personality.
Please don't stay shocked, but just in case I am known to be pretty good
with heart defibrillation....all in fun my friend.

Hi Rainbow,
I can't sleep so let me tackle your question.
I met Joe Scardilli on my 20th birthday at a club called "Ice Palace 57". It was kind of love at first site. He was with his
friend Lee Nolan. Joe became my boyfriend for about a year and 1/2. The following week I met John Murphy, Joe's best
friend and flight attendant buddy (American Airlines). So this was 1975 and I met Freddie in 1980. The four of us became
good friends and often went out together. We were all at "The Anvil" that morning at 0430 AM. Freddie later admitted that
he thought the four of us were hot because we were wearing tank-tops (or in the UK, singlets). He had nicknamed us the
"singlet sisters." He seemed thrilled when I approached him but did not know who he was. The rest is history..LOL

Welcome Day dop,
"And seriously? Peter Freestone or the Bulsara's?"
I have no idea what this is supposed to mean, but if it is a put-down, I really am
not interested in it's meaning. Introduce something positive here please. I hope you
can. Leave negative opinions off until you can build up a more friendly outlook with
us here.
If I misunderstood, please educate me.

it's not a put down. I've spoken to Peter many times. He's a lovely guy. And it's in no way disrespectful to the Bulsara's. I dislike the "Freddie would've loved" remarks when he's not here to speak for himself, and using Peter Freestone or the Bulsara's in an attempt to bolster that argument seems ridiculous. Freddie may well have liked him as a person, but singing for Queen? That's another matter.

I hope you see where I'm coming from here. But it matters not, I don't wish to involve you on that, so I'll leave it there.

Rainbow,
I just looked at the reports about Lew Katz, What they forgot to say was that the infamous, criminal and bad actor, Roy Cohn (President Trumps former friend) got him
acquitted from the prior murder case where they claimed that poor Kirby had committed suicide. No one in Uncle Charlie's believed that because they were breaking up
and we knew that Lew had given him half ownership of Uncle Charlie's South bar in better days. They say he shot himself in the mouth and bled all over Lew's white carpet
at his Park Avenue Suite. How inconvenient that the white carpet had to be replaced.

Now Day dop,
I asked you to please let me know what you meant and now that I understand it was a bit of a relief
for me. Again, welcome to this thread. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Thank you. It's nice to meet you. :-)

I'm going to read through this entire thread. I've caught parts of it. I'll comment again when I've done so.

@Arnaldo

From what I read, Lew Katz went to Panama.

Hello, Rainbow! Thanks for the info! I'll tell my Office colleagues to close the file :)

Cheers,

Thats the musical I was talking about some pages ago, 'Time', it happened April 13, 1988, and Freddie got involved because it was a charity event. He sang only four songs: Born To Rock 'n' Roll, In My Defence, It's In Every One Of Us (with Cliff Richard) and Time. I brought it up in case anybody knew any video sources and there's only photos and audios. He really sounds great!

Hey LOTV,
I am not aware of the last vocal duet. Who is Richard?
Would you be so kind to throw me a link. Thanks

See if this works fella. I wasn't even aware this happened until not so long ago. I'd always heard rumours of a secret fn club gig in 88, which turned out to be bollocks.

Richard be Cliff Richard.

He didn't sing In My Defence, that was a recording.

Right. But again you're insinuating that Brian and Roger are liars which... I won't lie to you.. I really don't like. Queen and it's members have always been perfectionists. They also aren't bankrupt. Why would 2 perfectionists who aren't in need of fast cash claim Adam is good if they don't believe it and go on tour with him? Also why would so many other people who knew freddie say the same as them when they don't profit from a Queen+Adam tour? That makes no sense.

Oh come, don't paint B&R as martyrs to rock n roll ffs. They absolutely love a dollar, that can't be argued. Brand Queen is a business machine, whatever you may think of the music.

They are very shrewd businessmen. Some of the smoke up arse blowing on here is nauseating.

Nice discussion folks...interesting opinions. I've only seen Adam Lambert on videos so cannot
comment on any personality traits that he may or may not have. All I CAN say is thank God
Brian and Roger didn't pick Miss Peter Straker for lead singer...lol.

Amen to that on Straker. I can't think of a more horrible fit. Well maybe Robbie Williams, but Deaky covered that one for us.

So basically Mr Thundergod can't comment on what Fred would think of Adam because he hasn't seen enough.

LOTV, thanks for the correction :)

Hey LOTV,
I am staying away from the Adam Lambert controversy. I am conflicted between what
the living Freddie might have thought and what the spirit of Freddie does think.

This is interesting enough, thanks Man.
Very sorry this is digging up sorrow, I guess we forget you knew him properly.
King Mercury, long may she reign.

LOTV,
Thanks for that link. What a beautiful song that I have never heard before. I met Cliff Richard at Freddie's house
but I thought his last name was "Richards" so when you said Richard, I was thrown off. I did not recognize Mr.
Richard when he first arrived at the Garden Lodge one day, but Brandon knew him immediately because his
favorite female artist is Olivia Newton John and they sang "Suddenly" together. He seemed very friendly and sincere,
so no doubt, a friend of Freddie's.
P.S. Sorry to equate the "Elvis of the UK", Cliff Richard with "Mary Richards", the main character in the old
"Mary Tyler Moore Show"...LOL

I'd heard they were friends but I found this hard to believe, with Richard being a sanctimonious judgmental bore. I wonder what he thought of Freddie's wild antics?

Clearly I am wrong, they were friends in his latter years. What a curious combination.

Glad you enjoyed the song, it can make me very emotional. One can hear how quitting touring has helped his voice 'heal' (let's face it was close to being shot) , his more healthy life style helped too I imagine. I've heard a story about this show that he was in agony with the problem with his foot and really not feeling well at all. However he troweled on the makeup and said to Dave Clarke "Well then, let's fucking do this my dear". He was apparently advised not to do this but he wanted to do something for the cause whilst he still could, without having to admit what he was suffering from.

The last song he sang on the bill was Born to Rock n Roll, as fitting an epitaph as his goodbye to us all in the vid of TATD.

Mon pleasure mon amie. I do like to be a smug cunt, though sadly I can't sing out of it ;-)
