Well here we are again.Missed oppertunity to give the real die hard fans of Queen not only what they want, but what they deserve.
Ok,admittadly there are some aspects of this set which are exciting, but there are other bits which just take the piss out of us loyal fans.Personally I enjoyed the 2011 version,so to have this coupled with the Raw Sessions is a giant step forward. However CD 3 is just pointless.5 tracks released not even a year ago,Feelings,Feelings released with the 2011 remaster, instrumentals and backing tracks(probably the versions but with the vocals taken out),and live tracks we have all heard before. This sucks. In fact I am surprised we didnt get the 1977 Radio One interview again.
The Rainbow release was a chance taken, and should have been a springboard for things to come. But either QPL,or someone behind the scenes seems hell bent on messing up every archive release.I can only hope that with the exclusion of Houston,an absoloute travesty in my opinion, that this will eventually see the light of day in a live box set, along with Hyde Park 76,Earls Court 77 and of course Paris 1979,only to name but 3.
1976 through to 1979,in my opinion, saw Queen at their explosive best. Not only visually but sound wise, and this period would, for me personally never be repeated. We all have the bootlegs from this era,but with modern technology, things can be claened up and restored,Again I say that there must be a live documentry in the pipeline, because why spend so much money on the work they have done allready ?I get the point that Queen were perfectionist, but sometimes to release a part is better than nothing at all.
I just wish that someone who has a timescale of events could just say to us all we want will be released. At this rate,I will be All Dead All Dead(excuse the pun) before anything else worthwhile gets released.
Was'nt it Freddie who said You can do anything with my legacy but never make me boring. This is'nt boring ,but its a bit repetitive

I think Freddie would be ashamed if he see/hear this...
After his dead only a few things were crazy, Made in Heaven, Rainbow Box, Wembley Box, but the rest...... nothing new, oh wait.. The Freddie Mercury Boxset and Let me in your heart,

Didn't anyone noticed the backing track for We Will Rock You? So what do we get, 2 minutes of clapping and stomping? As for the one hour documentary, Harris shot hours and hours with the band, at home, in the limo, on tour, the Champions shoot, at the stage, i could go on. Hours and hours and we get one. Hopefully not the snippets that we already got in the past. Let's pray to god that they will alter the bonus disc which features material we all have. I mean, the US single version of It's Late is a nice touch and the Raw Sessions will be amazing but that bonus disc is a no go. I am amazed that after pleeding, begging and screaming we will get a disc of alternate takes. There are reels circulating from this album so i am sure those have been used. Does anyone know why this time after decades we get a disc of rarities? What is the reason after being denied them for decades. Did they look at the chart performances of The Beatles Peppers boxset? All in all, i am looking forward to disc 2 and the documentary but the rest is an opportunity missed.

It's stuff to download. Nothing more.
the only interesting things are the RAW sessions CD and the DVD (why not doing the Blu Ray ?? ) .

What's with "Sleeping On The Sidewalk" Live on D2?
Do they not have ANY studio takes of that song?????
Of course they do.
But after decades of telling the story about how the first take was special - when the reality is that the song is actually a compilation of various takes - why destroy that mystique ?
So instead we get a live version.
They know exactly what they're doing.

agreed. Brian probably had the same question as brians wig... "weren't there like 27 takes of that one?"... someone probably had to point out to Brian that he had said that the one on the album was done in one take in the past. "really? i said that? better go for a live one, then."

Wohoo!! Disc2 seems better than i dared to wish! Very interesting stuff there! This is what I've been waiting for a long while: Freddie singing All Dead... Sleeping on the Sidewalk (live)!!!!, aternative takes and demos.
The document should be interesting to see as well.
The last four years or so have been good times to be a Queen fan.

Really?

I'm more disappointed that Silver Salmon is nowhere to be seen. The inclusion of SS on the third CD would seal the deal for me (that and maybe the bluesy version of Feelings)

No Houston, even full audio concert... And truncated verison of 1977 film only on DVD, no BD. What what a crappy shit from QPL, still can't believe it...

So this is the same mutilated and mono (simulated stereo) from "Rare Live" released as a B-side on 1989...

Still can't believe the have totally wiped Houston 1977 from their memories. Not 1 Fucking CD containing a live concert, incredible.
Every year the QPL make a great effort to surpass themselves in terms of shitty releases, and in the last couple of years they've managed to do it flawlessly. God Bless the Torrents!

I think the problem would be that they probably don't have the multitracks of Houston Show?
If I'm not mistaken, all the snippets on official releases uses mono feed of simulated stereo ("The Miracle" B-side).

Its now £95 from Amazon,if you like whats on offer pre order. If you don't like it please don't turn your nose up like you have just stood in a pile of dog shit.
Why not? Why is a negative opinion not equally valid to a positive one?
There's good stuff on here, but there's room for a lot more, and there would be room for a hell of a lot more if some stuff that didn't need to be there wasn't in the way.

Pre-order. ...if that requires Pre-Payment.....
...then i can't do it. Rent is due. ..although it's got cosmetic appeal and disc 2 sounds fantastic i wonder as well about DVD only content (*should issue as BOTH considering this is an expensive SET: this sort of replication isn't expensive to production).
Also from what has been told through the years. ..60 minutes is very slim.
I hope more will see the light of day. So much material to work from

While I agree - I'm pretty sure people here would slam it more than the inclusion of the vinyl or the 2011 remaster... Because then you'd have direct duplication of the exact same thing.
What they SHOULD have done is offer the DVD + a Blu Ray of the doc including a 192/24 2.0 version of the album.
I'm still buying it because i can afford it. But I can see that for the price listed - bang for buck given what they *could * have included for not that much more in production costs is a bit a of letdown.
Also, while I'm more of a vinyl fanatic - i agree that the vinyl should have been separate from the CD collection. I think the right way to do this is to only include the book if you get the super deluxe edition + offer vinyl, HiRes of audio, BluRay/DVD each seperately. No need to combine any of the above (as the Rolling Stones do with their from the vaults series. Had the Stones released them as Vinyl + Blu rather than Vinyl + DVD - I would have bought each of those sets... since they don't... I haven't bought any of them. I can imagine quite a few Queen fans would apply the same logic. If the combo doesn't fit - fuck it.
