Still can't believe the have totally wiped Houston 1977 from their memories. Not 1 Fucking CD containing a live concert, incredible.
Every year the QPL make a great effort to surpass themselves in terms of shitty releases, and in the last couple of years they've managed to do it flawlessly. God Bless the Torrents!

I have to admit that in the last few months, I'm losing some of the interest in Queen. Still, I'm very respectful to the band and really appreciate their music.

- CD2: Something on this CD should be pretty interesting.
- CD3: I think it's an insult. Almost everything has been released officially, including the live tracks (including SHA from Paris '79 and My Melancholy Blues from Houston)
- DVD: Could be interesting, but it won't be on BluRay, which is a shame. Moreover, why didn't they choose to release the full Houston show?

Again, this release can't show its full potential, and it's absolutely overpriced.

I bought the deluxe editions of releases for the last three years. But this one I am really struggling to justify. As someone else said, where is the Blu Ray? This stuff was shot on film, it can be released in 1080p at high bit rate. Reducing that to DVD video is an insult.
Is it possible that they don't actualy have the film elements?
Bob Harris worked for the BBC. Was the original documentary commissioned by the BBC?
If so, it's entirely possible that the film was transferred to PAL 2" and then junked.
That would explain a DVD release, although it's shame it's not an upscaled Bluray like the last two releases, though I guess if they'd done that we'd have lost one of the other discs (Disc two most likely LOL), to make way!

They must have them. We got snippets in 2012 documentaries (DOOL and TGP?) that look wonderful and freshly transferred to HD.

I don't really like the fact that if I want to listen to CD2 (and MAYBE the documentary) I HAVE TO buy stuff I already have (discs 1 & 3) and stuff I don't want (I don't care about vinyl). I really hope they will soon release some alternate versions like they did with Rainbow and Hammersmith.

Well it's been a while since I've actually seen the 2011 documentary but from what I remember the Bob Harris stuff was offered in different formats
- HD which really looked like film
- 4:3 PAL video
- 16:9 PAL video (cropped and resized from 4:3)
- some black and white stuff

So I always thought that they have SOME of the stuff only on video, but some of it on film

Alot of criticism on here and i must add my voice to it. Every bit deserved.

Yet another missed opportunity to give the fans value for money.

You're right man. QPL are filled with morons who don't know shit about how to deal with what they have in the vaults.

What's with "Sleeping On The Sidewalk" Live on D2?
Do they not have ANY studio takes of that song?????
Of course they do.

But after decades of telling the story about how the first take was special - when the reality is that the song is actually a compilation of various takes - why destroy that mystique ?

So instead we get a live version.

They know exactly what they're doing.

This is exactly why my love for Queen has pretty much died.

Rainbow was stellar. This is utter shite.

Shame it's not along these lines.

I saw the Doc at party and also producer answered queations at end. He said the version we saw was one version for fans??? Dont know what this means. And as for bluray quailty.. he also added some of the footage was blurry and black and white..so tried best to get most from footage...it showed loads studio stuff mainly black and white. Especially champions.. clips from houston and contained new commentry by Brian and Roger.. it was interesting..but felt like a long trailer for a bigger version.

I'd say this seems about on par. They both had roughly an hour of unheard material.

And while there's a ton of live stuff out there, there aren't a lot of studio outtakes from 1977. Sure, there's a lot of superfluous stuff here - but focus on the good. There's a lot of it.
