If we assume that the one hour consists of archive film footage and not driven by modern interviews, it might be just enough.

It'll be interesting to see if they decide to draw attention to this release with a rejigged set list for the Europe/UK tour.

As usual we have to buy a lot for what amounts to a little.

Anybody could do that with the multi-tracks that leaked years ago... CD 3 is atrociously bad, considering they releases half of the stuff last year and some in 2011...

Very poor release indeed, only CD 2 and the DVD intrque me.

The only thing that baffles me is why they won't release the uncut concerts. 1977 shows are already on youtube, in much worse quality. Why the hell not release the full shows, to replace the already existing crappy quality stuff, since they say they're all about quality?
YES! In 1977-1978 they were at their "Live peak". I mean, only one REAL unheard track from that golden era of live shows?!

What a rip off!!! CD3 is an insult.
Most of the "rare" tracks were released years ago. And why the fuck would I listen to an instrumental of songs that were played 10000000000 times. The cherry on the cake: Backing track of WWRY...two minutes of claps and boots.
Since Live AT The Rainbow, QPL is going downhill...

WHAT A WASTED OPORTUNITY!!!

"VINYL LP: News Of The World (New Pure Analogue Cut from the Original Master Tapes)"

So, erm, they're releasing an LP of the original 1977 LP release that a lot of us have had going back as far as, well, 1977?

You never heard the 'karaoke hits' japanese compilation from 1998?

The Raw sessions disc is of course VERY exciting ! Finally something the die hard fans would really like.

Disc 3: the bonus disc is a wasted opportunity! This disc would have been so much better if it included live tracks of the actual News tours of 77/78. It would have been a perfect fit.
90% of disc 3 is easy to get on youtube...

And no Blu-ray!? It's 2017..

I'm amazed that we don't get balloons this time :-)

I bought the deluxe editions of releases for the last three years. But this one I am really struggling to justify. As someone else said, where is the Blu Ray? This stuff was shot on film, it can be released in 1080p at high bit rate. Reducing that to DVD video is an insult.
Is it possible that they don't actualy have the film elements?
Bob Harris worked for the BBC. Was the original documentary commissioned by the BBC?
If so, it's entirely possible that the film was transferred to PAL 2" and then junked.
That would explain a DVD release, although it's shame it's not an upscaled Bluray like the last two releases, though I guess if they'd done that we'd have lost one of the other discs (Disc two most likely LOL), to make way!

I've read a few comments about how people would have preffered an entire disc given over to live tracks.
Personally I'd rather have a disc with instrumentals on, free from all vocals!

What's with "Sleeping On The Sidewalk" Live on D2?
Do they not have ANY studio takes of that song?????

I like the idea of D2 being an alternate version of the album, though some other unrelased songs from that era would have been a superb addition.
Feelings Feelings: A different take of that would have been better - even if it was Take 9 which (is different) they MUST know leaked onto the net many years ago.

Disappointed to discover that it's the 2011 version of the album that's being re-issued in the set and not the "remix" from the multi's we all thought it might be.

All in all it's not worth the money they're asking. £50 at the most.
I guess QPL have proved once again that if you expect disappointment from them, you won't BE disappointed....
