The filming commenced on Friday and the Live Aid sequence is the first to be shot.

Thanks for the additional info. Do we know what band the film focuses on?

I suppose there will be additional filming with an audience?

anyways; I'm not going to jump to conclusions from a cell phone recording. I'm sure it will look good once it's been in the editing room.

I think people on here are too harsh on Malek. There's little to judge him by at this point.
Sure there are people who look more like Freddie, but is a lookalike what people want?
Malek certinly resembles Freddie, from what I've seen now. If that's coupled with great acting, then I'm sure the final result will be good.

as for the live aid audio, hopefully that's down to the source material being sub standard.
Fingers crossed that the rest of the film will feature Freddie's voice

He doesn't resemble Freddie at all. Freddie didn't have huge bulbous eyes. Something else that a friend of mine pointed out is Rami looks like a boy, whereas Freddie didn't. Nor, judging by that clip, can he act like Freddie. What the hell is that at 9 seconds in? Then that move at 16 seconds in? He's going through the motions but that's about it. I think it's a dire choice of casting.

The director and editor is gonna make it work I think. Besides, they probably do number of takes to perfect everything. What we've seen so far is the dirty dark side of the moon. Spot on comments about his face and looks though. Still, need to see the final product to judge properly.

Looks pretty good so far to me, frankly until the film is out it's impossible to tell if any of the actors really capture the spirit of the person, this was the first day of shooting and probably the first take before they got down to business, way too early tell how it will turn out, of course that wont stop the world renowned film directors on this site denouncing it as rubbish....

This. Editing/directing will make everything pop. Hopefully anyway.

I just can't help but get worried when I see Malek exaggerating everything. Freddie didn't move like that. It's close, but this take didn't have it. Hopefully there are better ones and editing will make it all work out in the end.

Only thing that assures me is that, there are people involved in the project who know and care about what Freddie was about as a performer, an individual and will not change him short.

I'm referring to Brian,Roger, Jim beach and most importantly, director of the film Bryan Singer, who seems to be a genuine fan of Queen.

I hope that the final product has nothing in common with this mockery.

Nothing really matters in the end.

Thanks for the latest links. Was interesting to see the latest photos.
I am excited and dont care if there are a few strange shots. I think its looks quite good and cool. Most important is the acting and that he nails the character of Freddie. So far we only have photos, not any speaking or videos.

I still feel looking at a kid when I see Rami. Can't help it. Freddie looked far more mature.

Pretty bloody impressive, for a single raw take.

I wonder if their 70s era is going to be mentioned in this biopic? because I simply cannot imagine this guy doing a 70s Freddie. short hair, moustache, buffed look - sure, anyone can do that. but early 70s Freddie is something else...
