Well, hearing a song from a seventies show just from soundboard is a first, not?
I hope they change their mind in the coming years and present us full concert recordings from those tapes.
I'm sure they have such recordings for all those astounding seventies tours..
Or why not just slip in a few such complete audio shows in a big(ger) live box?
Anyway, Raw Sessions looks like a great disc but we just could have had waaaay more or at least a product at a waaaaay better price!

I think so on an audio release? Would be fantastic if this opens up a new direction in Queen's archival releases. An audio concert through time and space.

I heard that SOTS included in the album is the take 1. I don't know if they recorded more takes and then they choose the first or just was only one.
What it all boils down to is lack of transparency on the part of QPL.
Why not just be honest with us!?

Pretty sure there is no multitrack of SOTS. As far as I know, any soundboard recordings will be from cassette tapes.
Thanks GT. Greg didn't offer that information despite my question to him leading in that direction....
Sadly, as you know, once you've asked your question, you don't get chance to ask another inorder to dig deeper : just like Prime Ministers Questions each week!

Quality purposes will most likely be one of the answers!
Rumours abound for decades that Brian has a soundboard copy of almost every live show in his collection, but these would, of course, most likely be raw compact cassette copies.
I'd love confirmation of that, but no one connected to the Queen camp are ever likely to oblige for the obvious reasons....

I don't suppose anyone asked about whether Silver Salmon was recorded in these sessions and formed part of the proposed set or, in fact, whether an album session version of the faster WWRY exists?

Although SOTS is a one take recording...
Technically, not: it's got a first-take backing track. But that doesn't preclude the existence of:
- Alternate takes that were not as good as the first one.
- Alternate takes of the vocals (which were overdubbed).

How does the degrading process of cassette tapes look like ? I hope that all of Brian's private cassette tapes are properly stored in some digital format already....

I'd wager they were put on minidisc as soon as he got the chance.

Nope. No one asked those.
It's fair to say that most people who go to Convention just like the music and aren't as fanatical as we are.
THAT'S why there's always so much talking in the room when Greg plays unheard tracks for us....
Personally I despair.

^Isn't that kind of pointless? Most people who go there don't really care if what they're listening to is new or not, and those who do would gladly pay and respectfully listen just like they did with the Innuendo sessions. I mean, they could probably do that once a year, make it less expensive to gather more people and just donate the profits to the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

I agree these were great tracks to listen to. All Dead All Dead with Freddie's vocals was amazing. It also included the vocals that are printed on the sleeve notes but not on the album recording.

Quick check later.....
Never noticed that in 31 years (but then it's probably been that long since I read them)
That might just have ruined the surprise for everyone....
