My grandmother used to sing the German version of "Lucky Lips" to me when I was a child - he was already old fashioned when I was a child but in England he was huge with no. 10 hits over 5 decades. It still boggles my mind that the police raided his house in his absence and invited the BBC to film the action from a helicopter. What an extreme low that was for the English justice system and public television. It was open season against any gay celebrity (or perceived gay celebrity) in the wake of the Savile scandal. There was never a shred of evidence that Cliff Richard abused anyone, old or young.
