Or maybe he was still upset about the shooting in California, he was having a baaaaaaaaaaaaad day yesterday.

I read some of his tweets. I'm sure that shooting upset him, as they all do. If that was the reason for it, it's very understandable.

Yep I think he'd had enough of fans sniping in his twitter/instagram comments every time he posts anything meaningful and not just fluff and his post about the shooting seemed to be the final straw.

What were the fans doing? I don't follow his social media often to be honest.
I don't blame him if he was upset by the shooting. And believe me or not, I don't blame him for tweeting what he did about changes needed. He is right.

I don't often read comments under his posts so I'm not sure but previously whenever he posts anything related to politics, even just urging people to vote or about LGBTQ rights I've heard his fans start arguing between each other and it can get nasty. Some seem to think he should shut up and stick to singing like he's not entitled to have an opinion about anything and obviously other fans weigh in and it gets ugly. I'm guessing from his other tweets the same thing happened about gun control etc.

There are fans of a different political opinion. They think Adam as an artist shouldn‘t voice his opinions on politics. It‘s not a fight between fans. It‘s „fans“, who tell Adam to shut up. Or that he‘s simply wrong.

Some of his fans can rip each other apart sometimes. It's rare, but I've seen it happen a few times. Some of his fans are very entitled.

Yeah I didn't read the tweet comments yesterday but there was a nasty argument on facebook between fans with opposing views on gun control/NRA and the other week some fans were asking others how they could support an administration that's actively against LGBT rights yet still be a fan of Adam also on facebook. I have seen the comments telling him he shouldn't be voicing his opinions as well. I've even seen the same on instagram sometimes. Yesterday it was obvious from one of his tweets he'd seen an argument about the gun situation between some fans.

No, compared to Freddie, Adam doesn’t even come close to a rockstar.

Freddie = exceptional great voice and entertainer, poser in a good way
Adam = good voice, but poser in bad way, like a caricature

Just my 2 cents...

Just curious why you say poser?

As both are very extravagant frontmen, but imho in a totally different way . With Freddie it was mostly in good style, and always for the good regarding the song, music, performance, etc. And even at times he was a bit over the top or a bit less tasteful (for instance wearing the fake plastic boobs on stage in South America while singing I Want To Break Free), even then I think he could het away with it as he had achieved so much in music and was doubtless top-notch.

For me, with Adam Lambert it’s totally different. The times I’ve seen him perform with May and Taylor, it made me cringe in horror. He had a good voice, but for pop or musicals, less for rock. However his performance (his clothes, the way he acts and moves and interacts with the public is way too forced, too much drama, too much camp. I would almost call it kitsch. It’s too much, and all seems for the benefit or glory of Adam Lambert, instead of the song/music/performance. Almost like the sun king Louis XIV who pulls all the attention towards him. Now I wouldn’t mind if he just did that when he was playing his own music. But while playing with May and Taylor Queen songs, I think he’d better could’ve behaved on stage in a way like Paul Rodgers. Mind you, I don’t say he should copy Paul Rodgers as each one has his own style. But Paul seemed more prepared to take a modest role, without the need to overshadow May, Taylor, Queens music and legacy. I won’t go so far to say that this is Adam’s real intention, but nethertheless it’s a too much of an ‘Adam show’ for me.

But hey, maybe I’m just an old bastard.I immediately admit that I’m one of those old school Queen fans, for whom Queen stopped when Freddie died and John called it a day. ??

Fair enough, I get where you're coming from sort of but I don't see it the same way and knowing a lot about Adam I'd say it's 100% not what he's trying to do. He really respects the band
but that's just his way of performing, it's just how he is, he's like that in his own shows and I know Brian & Roger checked out his solo shows early on so they knew what they were getting. From the reviews I've read and comments from lots of Queen fans on facebook most people get him but there are some who see it differently. I get the impression they actively encourage him to do a lot of the things he does, Brian seems to enjoy the playing off each other they do and the being silly. I don't get the impression he draws attention away from them, in fact the opposite, he seems to like including them, Brian more so since it's harder to interact with Roger on the drums. But I get he's not for everyone.

B
I’m with you that Brian and Roger knew exactly what type of show it would be with Adam, as he is a ‘what you see is what you get’ kind of guy. I don’t think he has a hidden agenda. So I also think that Brian and Roger like/love the way he performs. It’s just not my cup of tea, that’s all. ;-)

^^^ Yeah I'd agree with that.

I‘m also an“old“ Queen fan, who really disliked the collaboration with AL in the beginning. After I actually saw them live in 2015, I changed my mind.

Yes, some of Adam’s movements on stage are not my cup of tea. Neither were some of Freddie’s back in the day. ;-)

I saw AL at one of his solo concerts. I only went, because I couldn’t let my daughter go alone and wifey said no... In the end it was an eye-opener for me.

The thing I noticed was, that his stage persona was very different from the persona on the Queen stage. He’s still the entertainer, but he had 3(?) acts. In each he wore a different costume and sung songs, that had a „theme“. I think it was 1. dark side, 2. love 3. dance ? That’s how I would have called it. However, it showed, that the guy structures a whole show. He behaves on stage the way, he thinks is fitting.
The first act had new, powerful songs, an extravagant outfit and really brought the level of excitement up. He sung, danced a bit in one or two songs, stood still for another one. Great start.
The second act was sung in a suit and was completely stripped back. He sang calmer ballads.
The last act he went all out, dancing and his over the top moves were back. And a fun outfit, that looked more like a pyjamas than like a stage outfit.

What I learnt: AL structures a whole show like a musical event. He isn’t always that crazy performer, he can be a completely stripped back calm one. He just doesn’t do it for Queen, because that’s not Queen for him.
That last one I got from one of his interviews.

I also saw, that he has learnt a lot from Queen about how to put together a setlist and a show. Thinking about it, I can also clearly see AL‘s handwriting on the current Queen show.

In the way he creates a show and plans how to perform a song, Lambert isn’t a rockstar. My problem: Freddie was similar in planning and taking on a show. And he is considered a rockstar

So it Must be about the music itself. 4 years ago, I would have definitely said, that AL can‘t sing rock in a convincing way. That changed, he got a lot better. I can really enjoy his interpretations of Stone Cold Crazy, Tear it up or I want it all.

So I can only conclude, that I don’t see a reason, why the guy shouldn’t be called a rockstar.

Spot on, he's a theater kid and that's how he approaches his shows. I've seen interviews from straight after Idol when he was putting the set together and he was planning all the different parts of the show and how he wanted it to be themed, very much how you described and he did to an extent but was limited by budget to what he could do. He's said one of his favourite things performing with Queen is he get's to do all that stuff but on a bigger scale but it's a huge part of the fun of performing for him and I'm sure it comes from having been in theater from a young age, it's what he knows and is comfortable with. There's also an element of being a character almost, he probably always felt more comfortable acting a part than being himself so he kind of incorporates that into his shows to a degree.

I agree about the quieter stripped down parts of his solo shows as well, he really suits that kind of performing but a lot of people watch a video of him being over the top and assume that's all he does.

S
I never saw a live show with Freddie but from the videos I’ve seen my impression is that HE was the whole show and completely overshadowed the other 3 band members. And quite the opposite, Adam constantly fades into the background when Brian is playing a solo. So I have the opinion that Adam shows great respect to the others and does NOT hog the spotlight. He is flamboyant but his outfits are tasteful and actually modest compared to all of the skin Freddie liked to show.
