MM I think what Thor meant was, if it ever had happened, they would've known about it. It's not a matter of agreeing with him, but that he would know. Freddie would have showed intrest in it or mentioned it. Thor said "old men" because that's what many of those scenes were in the bathrooms from what I've heard. Liberace's ex Scott talked about it once. He made it sound like the bathroom sex scene was reserved for the older gays. A kink, if you will.
Idk if class is the right word. Maybe...preferance. He might have preferred to not have sex in gay club bathrooms. Lord knows he had enough cash to bring whatever guy he fancied back to a beautiful room.
Saying he must have had bathroom sex is making an assumption as well and to be fair, no, not all gays are into the same things.
I hope this doesn't start WW3. Just trying to show the other side of it.
Villiers, I'm not really even talking about Freddie going to restrooms or bathrooms. My point is that someone said on the previous page that Freddie was too classy to go there. But he still visited some very, very sleazy clubs in NYC, so I just found it somewhat comical how some like to look at him being too classy to visit a restroom. And he visited those clubs before meeting Thor and co. and it's been mentioned in so many books and articles that he really liked to have his fun in the night time. It's actually not a big deal, just an observation.
The restrooms were propably more a thing from the 50's or 60's when they couldn't really meet anywhere else.
Hey MrMichael, it was me who made me the classy comment and looking back at it I can see the confusion. Maybe classy was too strong a word and like Villiers said maybe the word preference should have been used. My comment was in the context of “truck stop” bathrooms while on tour. As far as clubs go I’m sure he did a lot of things that would make us all blush. But I was just saying that the truck stop scene was unnecessary for its point that he is into guys to be made.
To that beautiful “Shooting Star leaping through the sky”. Twenty-seven years gone…yet you still burn as brightly as ever. Freddie, you are loved and missed.
Those are lovely words Rainbow, and yes, He's really loved and terribly missed!
I'm right with you Rainbow. I feel lucky to have been alive during the time he was with us, and so happy to see that his legend lives on.
Great sentiments Rainbow!
Lee and Thor, you two are in our hearts today.
This poem seemed fitting:
You can shed tears that he is gone
Or you can smile because he has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Dear Thor and Lee, I just wanted to say that I will be thinking of you both today - as well as all other people that knew and loved Freddie. He will always be in my heart.
Lovely poem Anniebee...thanks for sharing. I'm sure there are many who will find those words comforting for their own losses they are dealing with.
Rest peacefully (or "have a ball") lovely Freddie. We love and miss you always, thank you for the wonderful legacy you left us. You are still the legend you always were and will be cherished and appreciated forever.
Love Ya, Freddie!
Thor, Just wanted to check on you to ask how your Thanksgiving was with Lee? Thinking about you both !
I find it really interesting how there are three very separate schools of talking about Freddie's personal life.
1) Bisexual (mostly by the band and real friends): Mary was extremely important, had sex with many women, ended up being dragged into a bad world of irresponsible gay sex and partying
2) Gay (everything in this thread by real friends): lived a "decent" life with a "reasonable" amount of sexual partners, was definitely not bisexual, longed for a normal romantic relationship, did not enjoy the darkrooms etc.
3) Gay sex addict (mostly by non-friend gays, the tabloids and some comments by the man himself): did everything with everyone, did everything possible that could be done to the human body, frequented darkrooms, had sex with hundreds of men (making guessing who gave him AIDS absolutely pointless)
The band and "reel friends" haven't called him bisexual. They've all called him gay. "He had girls in the early days but freddie never seemed truly happy until he started living as a gay man"- Brian. I don't know anyone who knew Freddie who ever claimed he slept with tons of women lol. Have you seen The Untold Story? Exactly the opposite, actually. But I have a sinking feeling this is a trolling attempt again so I'll just leave it there. This thread and Thor are far from the only people saying he was gay. Freddie seemed to be under the impression he was gay as well.
