We met by chance and were initially, physically attracted to each other without even knowing who each other was. Freddie was tickled pink by the honesty of that first, meeting and also by the circumstances of the next evening in Philadelphia, If that jogs your memory great, if not, it is the first and second chapters of the book, with both greatly expanded narratives. These were two of my favorite chapters to write. It started the whole incredible friendship.

a dear, close friend of Freddie's. (emphasis here on dear and close). Hypocritically on my part, I do believe I told an off-color story on Dave Clark which I wish I wouldn't have shared.

Just think," blues", Diana Ross singing in the movie, "Lady Sings the Blues" about the life of Billie Holiday...was this movie about recounting all the happy times in her life?
I do NOT mean this in a condescending way at all. You are a smart lady, I know this well. Maybe my use of the word, "blue" needed an explanation. Sorry!

Freddie never worried about his safety...BUT Phoebe sure did, as if he needed the title "bodyguard" in addition to everything else he provided Freddie. Phoebe was a Master multi-tasker when it came to anything and everything regarding Freddie!
There hasn't been another bromance like this between two men, until Donald Trump and Kin Jong Un...LOL.Absolutely just kidding!

Thanks Thor. I had remembered what you told us about your first meeting with Freddie. So glad the book will cover how Freddie went from being a fun acquaintance to a true friend. That's what I was talking about. I assume by chapter 3 you are referring to how you and Lee met...that was my second question, but I don't think I was very clear. You might have thought I was still talking about you and Freddie. Anyway...I can't wait for this book! It will be amazing.

Rainbow, I may be wrong but I think Eltons blue period maybe his dark time when he was at the height of his drug addiction. I could be wrong. I recently read a book he wrote about the help he gave to a young boy and his family. The young boy had aids and he talks about this in depth in the book as well as his addiction to drugs and food.
Thor....I know that you didn't mean any offence regarding Dave Clark but i agree that something isn't right. I had been thinking the exact same . Your comment to Freddie about this and his reply did make me chuckle.

Elton John is presently in NY all week for his final tour. He has shows at the Garden and in Brooklyn. I’m on vacation in NYC and saw him Tues. night @ MSG. At the concert, Elton briefly alluded to a period in his life when he was at his lowest. He wasn’t specific, but he has a history of drug (cocaine) and alcohol abuse and was also @ high risk for contracting HIV. Thor, is that what you meant by his “blue period,” the times of party excess and hedonism? Elton eventually became sober and clean. He's presently married and monogamous and father of 2 boys. Even though he never mentioned Freddie specifically by name, he recounted how too many precious lives were lost to AIDS and how/why he started the Elton John AIDS Foundation. That was the most poignant part of the concert.
BTW, Katydyd5, how did you like “Hamilton?” I completely FELL ASLEEP for the 2nd half. It was a 2:00 PM matinee. I was so tired. NYC has completely inverted my sleep/wake cycle. I completely lost out on Act II. My friends couldn't arouse me. That was the costliest nap I have ever taken! LOL
Lee and Thor, you may be amused to learn that I lit the last of my $2 candles for the publication of your book @ St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC on Ash Wed. In between glasses of wine, one of my friends who is Catholic wanted to attend mass, so we went together. I participated in mass but abstained from the communion and the cross of ashes, as a lapsed Christian. The lowest denomination I had in my wallet was $10 cash. I had no singles. St. Patrick’s requested $2 donation. I got my money’s worth in prayers. I tossed in a $10 bill, lit 5 candles and prayed for my family (#1-#3), world peace (#4) and what the hell, your book (#5), since St. Francis De Sales and St. Jude had failed to materialize.
