Brian pretty famously said he never read Jim's book and wouldn't read it because he did not back books on Freddie's perosnal life. Where did you hear that he promoted it? He liked Jim for sure but..

Yes, Freddie has such expressive hands. During concert videos, I find myself watching his hands while playing the piano and especially when he is holding a microphone. Many performers now seem to favor the hands-free headset kind of microphone...I just cannot picture Freddie ever having made that change.
I ALWAYS enjoy Freddie’s interviews...that wonderful speaking voice and those beautiful eyes...a captivating combination to be sure. Freddie could have been interviewed about the bathroom sinks in the various hotels he stayed at and he still would have been interesting. Few people have that magic...Freddie had it in spades!

Sorry but I'm not sure that is true Doe...Jim was a great bloke and did stay in contact with Brian but he was a little hurt that Brian didn't want to read his book. I don't see why he would promote a book he refused to read. Are you sure it wasn't his facebook page that is run by a trusted fan? I recall his Facebook page once mentioning Lesley Ann Jones and I think we all know he doesn't support that. One of those "On this day 12 years ago this book was released". I don't remember seeing that page ever mention Jim's book but it has said things about his passing.
Met Brian out in LA at book soup during his Queen in 3D book tour. That was about 2 years ago-ish. Naturally felt compelled to ask about the movie and asked if anything was going to be based off of Jim's book and he replied "Never read it, mate. We won't be using it."
No way Brian himself ever backed it up. Jim also said something about Jim Beach being really annoyed that he wrote it. Jim was pretty open at the conventions on England about it. He essentially got closed out of what they call "the queen family" for writing that book. Queen Productions was pissed. Anything gay seems to piss them off. I hear they weren't thrilled with Freestone's book either.

I saw it on Brian may's soapbox webpage. To be fair Brian must have changed his opinion over the years regarding his private life; hence the recent film. The reason I found it is because I found a recent interview with Tim Wapshot and he said that Brian had promoted the kindle release. That's when I did some research to find it.

Lol yeah you've seen photos with Brian and Lesley. She went to his shows and book signings like everyone else. Hilarious that she tried to crop them and act like they were just hanging out. As if we weren't all at the same events. Got a link to the soapbox because he literally told me he didn't read the book. He also said it on multiple other occasions and sorry but there was nothing about that movie that included anything truthful about Mercurys persona life lol. So we really can't claim Brian changed his mind based on the film.

I'm trying to find it now in his 2013 soapbox. Lol so far it's all reading like: Badgers, knee surgery, badgers, space stuff, someone covers queen songs, badgers, lions, space, fan made art, space stuff and badgers.

Queen is a huge business, and as with any company, the main goal of the people who manage it is for it to prosper and make as much money as possible. It would seem Beach's job is to protectand further the Queen brand, even at the expense of the truth or sensibilities of those who were close to Freddie. You are correct. Don't forget Mr.Beach made me sign a gag order during my contract for working in the garden lodge. But he also told me to continue lying after my contract expired. He told me what to say to the press if I was ever asked and he was not pleased when I told him I did not see the point of lying at that time. During my contract is one thing but after seemed ridiculous. He wanted little to no mention of anyone who was removed from the house. I heard him tell someone outside of the gate once that Ms.Austin had nursed Mr.Mercury at the end of his life and made no mention of any of the men who actually did that job. I fear it was because they were gay. Joe told me Mary did not nurse him at the end. All of the men of the garden lodge said the same. But that's what Mr.Beach wanted the press to see.

Hello , Everybody you know how I feel I dont think queen productions wants this book published for sure it will totally discredit everything in the film .I think Brian is uncomfortable with Freddie being gay he preferred Freddie to be with Mary Austin Roger accepted him I think.This book will destroy any negative thing that film has brought forth .Mary Austin is sick mentally and she lives in a past that never could have existed.Brian considered her a dear friend well this movie didnt help her if she has viewed it.It has fed her illness.That among other things is why I dont like Brian May.He portrayed Freddie as a drug addict who strayed from his girlfriend and blamed others for leading him into a life that ended his life.Thats complete bullshit he was a big boy he did as he pleased.Brian portrayed himself and the others as Angel's with no issues .That's complete bullshit.I have no more to say because there is nothing he could do to make it right.
