First of all, thanks for all the comments about my flooding fiasco. The plumber that I am going through HAS to be the one who is "recommended" by the Association. Associations suck ... and that is an understatement ... They are full of power hungry busybodies ... In my case two board member residents in my subdivision ...
A few years ago our single family home neighborhood in the Chicago area was hit with a big early spring hail storm accompanied with high winds that damaged the vinyl siding on one side of our house. Of course, The Association was overwhelmed with requests for approval for repairs, and sent out a letter to stating that no prior approval was needed if the siding was replaced with the same original color siding when the home was built.
"Luckily" the damages was covered by our insurance for the damaged side of the house, but not the siding for the entire house, and we went ahead and had the siding replaced on one side of the house.
A week after the repairs were completed, I received a knock on the front door accompanied with a threatening registered certified letter demanding that the rest of the house have new siding installed ... or else ...
My wife and I spoke with several attorneys and all indicated that associations rarely lose these legal battles, and that we would end up paying their legal fees as well as our own legal fees.
We gave up and paid nearly $10,000 of our own money to have the remaining undamaged three sides of vinyl side replaced.

Mr Thor of course I will stay and chime in from time to time. There are great people here and one bad experience with one fan isn't enough to stop me from talking with you lot for good. I was not thrilled with Instagram.com but there were some great accounts on there. Villiers stands out to me because she uses her account to raise money for worthy charities. How many large accounts do that? Brilliant. What charities has your Instagram page donated to so far Villiers and which will be next? Will the live with Mr Thor and Mr Lee raise any money for charity?
