I am trying to publish a book with over fifty never-before-seen photos
of Freddie Mercury's time in New York City (1981 to 1983) and in London visits(1986-1991). Also, I have written chapters that recount Freddie, the down-to-earth, generous and caring man enjoying himself with his close American friends (of eleven years) right up to his unfortunate death. In his real life, Freddie enjoyed fitting in and just being "one of the boys" Early 1980's New York provided this for him.
The book is finished and being reviewed by a literary agent. Publishing this book as a "coffee table book" will cost a good amount of money.
This book is timed with the opening of the new docu-drama "Bohemian Rhapsody" which is sure to reignite interest in everything Queen and everything Freddie. A free, autographed copy by the authors (I have a co-author who was also part of our group of close friends in New York and beyond) will be provided for any donation over $50.00. This book will definitely sell, but a refundable donation (once the book is published, available and selling) can be provided.

The title of the book will be "Freddie Mercury in New York - Don't Stop Us Now!"

I thank any donators in advance who might help us to make this project become a reality. YOU are the Champions!

So....what happens if we make the donations and you still don't get enough to get it published? Have you considered Amazon? They print by demand. I saw a petition to get your book started online and it was posted to huge groups and pages. Think it only got like 200 signatures. I dont think it's likely that this go fund me route is going to work out. I know the girl who did the petition and she did it to get a rough number of how many people would be interested in the book and to prove you guys have support. Very nice gesture but I'm sorry to say I think it proves a go fund me would not be successful. Signing a free petition vs donating cash are two different things and the free petition didnt do too well. Sorry but the few people I've discussed this with have all agreed this is a bad route to take. If you want it out alongside the movie you guys are going to need to do it on your own. I don't think a go fund me is going to provide you with enough cash quick enough.
T
My cousin also suggested Amazon. That might be something to think about..
T
@Thor I sent you 2 messages regarding this. Please check when you have the time sweetheart. Take care.
T
Ouch...sorry guys, but a free book for a $50.00 donation did not seem to me too outrageous a proposal.

Thor ... I am considering "wasting" $50 dollars on your book that might never be published.

However, I need to talk to my wife at some point. I am a manic-depressive, and I am hypo-manic right now, and my judgement might be clouded. Thanks.

T
That's ok...you don't need to your $50.00.
T
Change that to "you don't need to send your $50.00"
D
You didnt answer the question. What happens if we pay for the money you guys still don't have enough to publish the book? Do we get a refund or a rough draft or what?
D
Sorry should read "what happens if we pay the money and you still dint gave enough to publish."
D
Wow even my correction have hella typos. Well shit.
T
Dustin....this is just a way of raising funds. I believe the book will be picked up and I already promised signed books for $50.00 donations as well
as refunds once the book gets off the ground. But you know, this may NOT be something for you. If I believed these last eight months that the book
would not get published, I would not have wasted my hours and hours of writing. Best advice for you...wait till it is out then decide whether or not to
buy it. Trust me, not a problem.
D
M'k. I'll definitely buy once it's out. Are you guys going to stop answering questions here for now
T
We will start a new thread on Queenzone when we have finished our Publisher search but only when it has
been approved by our literary agent. The hundreds of Vanity Presses out there is frightening and made us
employ a literary agent. Not inexpensive, by the way!

Hi Thor,

It's so great to see you back here - I was thinking about you and Lee not long ago. Congrats on the completion of your project! I will be happy to share this info - did you consider https://www.gofundme.com/ website? It would be easier to share over the social media, and also people would know how to donate without pm'ing you every time. As for me, I'm definitely in!
