Don't forget the combined sum of the Glamberts' wisdom on this:

1. he sounds better live than in the studio
2. he didn't pick the singles so it's the record company's fault
3. homophobia
4. he's not fat, just big boned
5. ed sheeran, adele, sam smith etc are rubbish, but people buy their records and not lambert's because err... something something something dark side of the force.

Those are only the first week sales and it is purely album sales. It just looks dire because in general, pure album sales are dire across the board except for a selected few (Sam Smith, Adele, Taylor Swift, Beiber...) Adam debuted at no. 3 on the Billboard charts for his first album, no. 1 for his second album and no. 3 for his third album. Ghost Town from his latest album was a hit in many countries and was streamed hundreds of million times which count towards Album sales as well (1500 streams = 1 album sale) Ghost Town alone might have added at least 200k in album sales.

In brief, he is not at the superstar level yet but is still doing pretty respectable.

And anyway, these days, sales hardly equal quality. Just look at Bieber.

well he's sold more albums than me. not as many as Queen.

Yea, If he was a great musician or songwriter I wouldn't care about record sales. Some of my favorite musicians never sold millions of Records. Not going too list them all because there is so many of them.. Dr. John? Clutch? Into Another? Ok I named a few. Lambert has a voice...he could sing, but I Think his future is Broadway. He can't write music yet...he could sing, but he's not all that unique. Coming out with a crown like Freddie did is tacky. Ok, It's nice paying homage to your hero, but does he have any original ideas?

Of course, taste in music is pretty subjective. Most of you are Rock fans so maybe Adam's solo music being pop/electronic so it most probably will not appeal to you. I have all three of Adam's albums and I like the songs. My favorite songs of his were probably never heard because radio doesn't really play him all that much.

I think he does good pop songs and would even argue that they usually have more depth than what you currently hear on the radio. And he co-writes most of them.

I don't have a problem that you dislike his songs if you have actually heard them but among all of you, who actually did take the time to listen to his three CDs in full? Or you just assume his songs are crap?

If you think the crown is tacky then it's your opinion. To each their own. I for one think it is representative of Queen and is a great symbol. It also makes the concert feel epic. It's also at the same time, a tribute to Freddie.

Adam does have a lot of ideas and through what we have heard from the band, Adam contributed a lot to how to sing the songs, the staging, the outfits...

The only thing I will concede is Adam is more of a vocalist than a musician and as a songwriter, if he wants to be taken seriously, he should release songs that are written solely by him. But in the pop world, most songs are written by a team of people. Rarely anyone writes alone these days. Even with bands, it is usually a joint effort.

The music is substandard and people don't want to buy it
Plenty of substandard music sells well. His stuff is no better or worse than most of what's on the radio these days (which isn't saying much).

And even though it may look like he's more committed to Queen than his solo career, he is still doing just fine. The numbers we're looking at are for the FIRST WEEK of sales. And these days in the digital age, 42,000 physical sales in the first week is pretty high. Most #1 albums sell about 50,000 copies in the first week. The album still peaked at #3 on the US billboard charts. He still has his major label deal, and they are clearly marketing him.

Give it a rest, guys. No matter how much you want to hate him, he is popular and selling well, and his gigs with Queen have overwhelmingly been a success.

From what I see, his album sales are better than the cosmos rocks. *ducks*

I Never hated lambert......Just stating his solo career never took off. I'm talking about here in the states not in Europe. I heard ghost town a few times on the radio then never heard it again. But he's selling enough albums, so he's fine.... he's playing with Brian May that's enough success alone.

Thank you The Real Wizard

Mike Hunt, judging from your post, I would not say that you hate Adam at all. I just don't agree when you say that his solo career never took off.

He still sold 3 million albums and 5 million singles worldwide on his own. And most of the sales come from the US. Ghost Town, The singles off his latest album, was also a top 20 radio hit and stayed on the radio for almost a year. He was also Grammy-nominated and all three of his albums debuted in the top 3 of the US billboard chart.

He is also pretty eclectic and has been a guest on a few tv shows and a live musical...

Of course, he is not at the superstar level yet where he could tour atenas and stadiums like Sam Smith, Sheeran, Swift, Bieber...but i would say that is doing pretty well compared to many others.

Mike Hunt: also, I agree with you about touring with Brian to be a success. I will be forever grateful to Brian & Roger for recognizing something special in Adam and asking him to tour with them. Touring the world with B & R has given Adam financial security, raised his profile and added to his credibility.

Also, my apologies for the three posts, i don't know how to edit my posts. Just wanted to say congrats to Queen on getting the lifetime achievement award from the Grammy's. Way overdue!

Ed Sheeran and or Sam Smith and alike are pretty talented singer songwriters and they're making good music which the public want to listen to.
I'd just like to point out here that Ed Sheeran is a serial plagiarist who copies parts of existing songs note-for-note AND word-for-word time and again, and expects to get away with it.

I see it, that Lambert is doing fine in album sales for this age, where streaming has taken over. Sure, others sell more.
I just checked Wikipedia though and found it interesting, that he seems to have the least success in the UK (looking only at singles).
From my knowledge, he had at least one top ten hit in many European countries (Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Sweden are mentioned) and all of his latest releases are doing really great in some small European countries (Poland, Czechia and especially Finnland). Plus he‘s pretty successful in Australia and New Zealand. Maybe the UK will find and warm-up to him after all his touring with Queen now? And if not, I think there are a lot of artists, who would be more than greatful to have a solo-career as successful as Mr. Lambert‘s. He‘s fine. (And would also be able to work successfully on Broadway anytime he wanted it.)

As for the single of „Two Fux“: I was of the impression, that it wasn’t even released to radio, because of its language. It was only played with Queen in NA and released online. So, I‘m very surprised, that it was as successful at it was in these little European countries. It seems the glamberts there love to stream their idol‘s songs.
