AL writes with his friends, so much for branching out, I guess.
What I'd love to see AL do, is write a song by himself and his own...and only his own...thoughts and emotions on paper to see what he may come up with.
I'd have more respect for him if he tried that.

Why should he want to do that when he's not a musician? He'd have to write it on computer without real instruments alone in a room, doesn't sound much fun for someone who's essentially an extremely social person who loves nothing more than spending his time with friends. He's a collaborator, it's his favourite thing to do, he likes to be around people that's what inspires him, no idea why it matters which way he writes the songs and what's "so much for branching out" supposed to mean? He previously worked with big names like Max Martin and a team of writers he'd never met before, hardly the same as writing with friends who he has a relationship with or people hand picked because he admires their previous work and can collaborate with on his own terms.

He spends long periods of time on the road away from family and friends, why should he spend time away from them when he's home as well? He's living his life the way he wants, working the way he wants and having fun doing it, that's how he puts his own thoughts and emotions into the songs, they're his real experiences or experiences he's seen friends go through. There's no right or wrong way to be creative and no one should be held to someone else's idea of what they should be doing.

And I'm assuming you have no respect at all for Elvis or Frank Sinatra if you base respect on writing their own songs since neither wrote their own music.

Bullshit. He pays people to write songs for him. If he is such a great songwriter/composer why doesn't he wrote a whole song from scratch all by himself like Freddus did many, many times.

Don't be naive, and don't fall for modern marketing tactics. Lamebird is nothing more than a glorified karaoke singer -- also he's fat. [/QUOTE]

The bullshit is all yours.

You obviously have no idea how royalty payments work and song writing credits are divided. If he had paid a flat fee for a song from a writer he would become the owner of the song so could credit the song to himself. To my knowledge he never has.

If a songs credits say Lambert/Smith it mean Lambert and Mr Smith wrote it.

Now take your bullshit and throw it around somewhere else.

Songwriters tend to bill artists for their time in the studio while writing and recording the track, and then they get royalties after that as well. It’s crazy that the ones Adam hires also write songs for Britney Spears.

You don’t have to be honest with credits, either. Considering Adam needs so many writers on most of his songs, they work on the lyrics too.

I’d bet anything that Adam’s job in terms of song writing is the concept and then approval of new lyrics.

The concept is the most important part of the song. Without it you wouldn't get the finished product or any direction of how the song will look or sound.

Lambert is a singer. Every singer is a musician. Ergo Lambert is a musician. That’s a fact.

Well I meant he doesn't play any instruments but yeah I class singers as musicians but many don't.

Then they are wrong. There exist definitions.

“A musician is a person who plays a musical instrument or is musically talented. Anyone who composes, conducts, or performs music is referred to as a musician. A musician who plays a musical instrument is also known as an instrumentalist.“

see http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musician
There is a summary of definitions.

People confuse the terms musician and instrumentalist.

Oh, he is not a musician...your words not mine ;-).
I doubt AL would be able to write a song by himself, let alone put it on an album.

I actually wrote he's not a musician knowing it would be jumped on if I called him one but refer to Sealion's post above as you can clearly see from the definition he is, he's not an instrumentalist which is different. Either way he couldn't write a song by himself unless done on computer which is clearly not what he wants to do. What's the big deal about writing songs on your own?

Why does he need a computer to be able to write a song? Sheesh, what did Queen do before the internet etc, , writing on rocks or something *sarcasm*.
AL couldn't write a song unless done a computer so you say.that's how reliant he is on technology, pen and paper not good enough, I guess.

Well darn lets see now, oh yeah that's it, the guys in Queen all play instruments and at the risk of repeating myself yet again Adam doesn't ergo to write a song you need a melody and music ergo you need to be an instrumentalist or use computerised instruments. Just how do you think someone can fit words into a song without any kind of melody line or composition? He could sit and write songs all day long but once he tried to fit music to them he'd soon see they wouldn't work and have to rewrite them. In case you don't believe me watch the Queen vid making of One Vision, see Freddie trying to fit Roger's words to the music and see how much the song ended up being changed.

I have extended family members who are in bands, write songs. The one who usually writes the songs doesn't need computers to be able to write songs. You said all needs a computer not me, and you can't tell me that he has been reliant on technology for most of his music so far.

And does this family member write songs without any music whatsoever and doesn't play an instrument or write on a computer program?

I didn't say he needs a computer at all I said if he wanted to write MUSIC and not just lyrics he would need to use computerised instruments since he doesn't play any, which part of that do you not understand? He hasn't been reliant on technology since he hasn't written music on his own, the whole point of collaborating is to get musicians together and not use a computer. Yes there's some EDM on his older songs but that's not the same thing and is done by producers.

I'll ask him the next time I talk to him.
AL's music as whole has been pretty much reliant on technology...it's only with Velvet he has a real band in studio.
