I really like "Man made Paradise" because you can instantly tell its Freddie Mercury in the way he sings the song.
Queen tried that track out for one of the albums but it got discarded, pretty sad because they could have nailed that track,.

Didn't Queen get as far as making a finished mix of Man Made Paradise, and isn't the finished Mr Bad Guy mix almost identical to the Queen version?

no i think the Queen version was a much poppier song than the solo version

You guys are crazy. I love that album. Can’t stand the Queen version of I Was Born To Love You.

Actually I don't think Freddie was happy with the album either happystar. I think he was quite happy to see the back of it. It took him 3 years to make it, he was on about that solo album for ages before it came out, and he was taking so long over it that I think he basically had to do a rush job at the end to get it out before Walter Yetnikoff asked for his money back.. . . . . I think Freddie and the record company and Jim Beach were happy with the finished album.

They went ahead a filmed some big budget videos to promote the singles, which they wouldn't have done had they thought the album was below standard.

I think they all changed there minds when the album didn't sell like they thought it would.

Still a better album than any Brian solo release. :D
We love you Mandy!

The album is plagued by a lot a reverb, but fortunately there are some effective tools for de-reverb.
I've tried ERA-D with good results both on vocals and instruments. It does not make a better music but at least the sound becomes tighter and less 80s.

"fortunately there are some effective tools for de-reverb"

Deverb?

Agree. It is horrible.

yeah the Queen versions of Freddies solo material is over the top and too rich, its as if Brian & Roger are saying "this is how it should have been" and freddies versions were wrong.

It's probably a more coherent album than any of Brian's, which tend to be a bit "bitty" -- songs cobbled together from different projects and time periods with no coherent theme -- but it's not a patch on Another World. Not even close. Much better song writing and musicianship. And Brian's vocals were top notch back then.

I know it's blasphemy to say this but I can't stand the Made in Heaven album. It's too maudlin. It should have been a shit-hot rock album like AC/DC's Back in Black but they went for the sugary "heaven and angels" approach, which really lacks originality. I like both versions of Made in Heaven including the one with Rog on vocals. Mother Love is the only song that really raises the bar. My Life Has Been Saved is pretty good too.

Yes mooghead, deverb - a practical attempt to partially solve an impossible task - how to like an album you actually don't like.
I doubt a remix or a re-recording(?) could favorably change this situation.
Better try other albums with the same singer (or maybe try another band).

Im with Hollyster. It's not ana lbum I'm particularly fond of.

Mr Bad Guy however is silly enough for me to love. I've probably said this earlier in the thread too.
