For films of The Beatles, you don't want to see Paul and John with them if you recreate their Ed Sullivan gig, and you don't see them with beards during 'Sgt. Pepper'. If you do, then it's carelessness to detail.
It's a condenser Mic and these sometimes have varied "pickup patterns" depending on the location size and shape of the coils.
It wouldn't matter if this were hanging upside down or right side up really. It'd still pick up something.
Different engineers go for different set ups. Back when i was in a studio setting this was pretty intriguing stuff. Now without a band and barely getting practice time, its become a sad novelty (until my return)
Often times some studios would record with two mics in opposite directions, but that might be incorporated for other fuller sounds.
Guitar, keys etc. Possibly with bg vox.

Has anyone considered that perhaps "Freddie with a mustache in the 70s" isn't actually in the movie and it only looks that way because of how the trailer was cut? It is entirely plausible they cut together two unrelated scenes. I HIGHLY doubt they gave Freddie a mustache in 1977 in the movie, considering we see him with the same outfit he wore IRL in 1977 in the trailer in SEVERAL concert shots.
of course we could say that the song Brian is pitching in the trailer to have audience participation is really Radio Ga Ga, and QPL have just put we will rock you in their to mess with people and cause a shit storm....

Now, this is a film with a big budget (and investors who want their profits) and meant to attract millions of people, so of course it's gonna have a lot of instances of artistic licence, truth being stretched, broken telephone and, well, fake news!

You're entitled to your opinion, but if you'd read the post properly instead of just jumping to call me brainless and tell me to get a life, you'd see that I'm talking about someone else's observations - and the last time I looked, this was a place for discussion.
