With the movie spanning around 15-16 years or so it is impossible to represent all the points mentioned by several people in this post in a single, coherent story that fits a 2 hour movie.
Quite frankly you could have a movie of Smile breaking up, Queen forming and their struggles in their first few years. Plenty of up and downs in there. And end it in Bohemian Rhapsody conquering the charts and Freddie feeling vindicated, blah blah.
They could have made a similar movie about them being old dinosaurs as early as 76-77 with the appearance of Punk and then Queen "making a comeback" with We are the Champions.
They could have made it about their steady climb in the seventies but feeling frustrated that they could not conquer America and then it finally happens in 1980.
They could have made it about Freddie's last years, him being brave in front of adversity and that whole "write me lyrics, I'll sing anything" mentality.
But now try to put all of that together and it's more like a 24-episode series where some parts in the middle will suck and others are just 'meh' but don't really resolve into something meaningful.
Soooo... bottomline, we'll know when we see it. Hopefully the general public will like it and it gets good word of mouth.
I would rather have a Hollywood Blockbuster with some artistic license and have Queen be massively popular again... then Rami and Gwylim getting Oscar nods and maybe something in Sound Design or Best Music, etc. I prefer this than getting a super accurate and factual depiction of Queen's story that nobody cares about.

Actually I can`t see a "Queen-Movie-trialogue" here. If the movie is doing good on the market, and there is a loophole or a "cliffhanger" at the end, then a second movie revolving about the inescapeable is possible. A two hour film about the early days or far fetched spin offs, will not work at the box office I guess.

there will be no second movie produced by May and Taylor.

This is the problem with biopic. 'You have a FANTASTIC story to tell!! And I want to tell it for you!!! Let's change it!!!'
I guess it's no different from hearing a story your mate got up to, and finding it funny enough to tell the chaps in the office but exaggerating it for the sake of the funnies. Fair dos.

In short : Freddie left the band for his solo stuff - comes back before a real band split and managed them, despite he is diagnosed with AIDS, to perform at Live Aid.[/QUOTE]
Yep - classic Hollywood. Few biopics are fully accurate.
But this would be a hell of a case of revisionist history if that's the case.
Let's wait to see the film.

No need to wait, I'm sure it will be exactly what it says on the tin. Everything I have seen so far seems to confirm that official movie description.
Having said that, I think I'm actually ok with that factual change. It would have been very difficult to leave the diagnosis for later if they wanted to climax with Live Aid. They would have to skip the Magic Tour (if the late 86 or early 87 version is true) and go straight to it. Besides, I think we can all suspect he was already ill in 85 anyway and he was probably worried too. That sudden move from Munich to London and change of lifestyle...

Exactly. It's a year off, give or a take. Not very much in the grand scheme of things. An artistic liberty that will reap many rewards.

Precisely - because this one will be so successful that there will be no need for another.
Millions of people all over the world are talking about this film months before it comes out. Not too many films (never mind music films) garner this kind of anticipation.

Bohemian Rhapsody | Becoming Freddie | 20th Century FOX
at 1:55 you can clearly see how they CGI-ed his mouth for accurate lip sinking

It's a 12A, that's all we need to know. As ever Bri and Rog playing it safe. I'm picturing The Boat That Rocks with less swearing. I don't know how they can accurately portray Fred without the F word, he was renowned for having a potty mouth.
Still, I'll watch the bloody thing.

Look out for the short version of BoRap with new chorus added for the casual viewer:
Hoop diddy diddy hoop diddy do, we're all having a Bohemian Rhapsody

Perhaps there is something that happened in 1984-1985 that we don't know about. Given the release of Mr. Bad Guy, it definitely seemed like Freddie was getting ready to go out on his own before Live Aid.
