I'm not a man. I wasn't trying to paint o picture, I was just remembering the people I worked with as being very much, the same as everyone else.
There was Steven, though, I really liked him and, I guess the funny thing was, I think it was because I knew he wouldn't hit on me, it was a nice little friendship.
I mean no disrespect when I say this, but, I never really know how to talk to/about gay people, I'm always afraid of coming across as... trying too hard? To show I'm not homophobic...? Some people have actually accused me of " just trying to prove you're not homophobic."
You know, just like, when a person says, " I have a lot of black friends," and people accusing them of trying to prove they're not racist.

Fun lovin criminal : Every gay man does not have to "come out" as it depend on the person and if they are comfortable with that.
Some people choose to remain private about there sexual orientation and Freddie was also one of those people, you never ever heard him say "i am a gay man" and he always denied it in the press. Dave Clarke can choose what he wants to do who he wants to tell and when. We do not have to judge him at all that is his decision.

ForFreddie, if you think that I love you less, because you are not a man, you're wrong.
Thank you for opening up on your uncertainty towards gay people. May I try to take it from you by stating that people by and large are uncertain how to approach other human beings. Especially gay men show a huge uncertainty, which is why a lot of them/us still hide away in ghettos to evidently feel safe there. The drawback to that is the uniformity in the so called gay community. I always preferred individuals, regardless of everything with which people are usually categorized. Let's face it, quite a lot of people categorize themselves in order to belong to a certain group of people. I personally find that pretty boring. Most of my friends are straight males, but they're individualists. They don't give a fuck if I am gay. My best friends, though, have always been seniors, female and male. I worship their wisdom, their humility and their ability to not judge anyone. Learning from them freed me so much that I can now fully appreciate myself as the person I am and therefore I think, or I hope, that I can appreciate other people for what they are, including being old, gay, black, straight, handicapped or whatever. But it goes way beyond that. Being gay is a part of me, but it is just one part of me. That's why there is no need for you to make any difference when you approach any of us. On the other hand, there's so much exclusion going on among gay men, which never made any sense to me. And there is still some strong sense of hatred towards women going on within the so called gay community, which must not be. It is all due to insecurity. When any minority turns into a majority, it usually excludes other people. And that's a shame. We as gay men still have to learn a lot and the most important thing is to learn to be able to accept ourselves. Because that way we can more easily accept other people. Or, to put it a different way, if I don't admit my own vulnerability to myself, I have no sense for the vulnerability of other people. Therefore it is important that all gay men have to come out eventually. If any woman, black person, gay man or any senior citizen feels that she or he has to hide away from society because of what she or he is, no one of us is really free. And, as far as I have heard, we're living in the lands of the free, aren't we?

Dave Clark wrote "In My Defense". That´s enough for me to have a huge respect for the man. I love that song! And thanks to the friendship Freddie and Clark had, we can enjoy their music.

It's easy to forget how big DC was back then. And rich. Their friendship made sense to me. Showbiz innit.

fun lovin criminal No one has to come out just to please society.
Been gay is a private affair and why should everyone who is LGBT come out because some do not want to be exposed and have private lives.
We are not living in an ideal world like you seem to think, and do not forget we are now living in a violent society of gun culture and there is still sadly many homophobic thugs out there carrying knifes and guns.
The wise gay man should keep his sexual orientation private because life is so precious and shouting from the roof tops "i am gay" will attract the wrong kind of attention.

Queen3: Really? The brave gay man will not surrender to the right-wing forces and their longings towards an armed society (see the newly elected Brazilian dictator). I have no idea how you come to the conclusion that I seem to think that we are living in an ideal world. You may read my post again. No one comes out to please society. Everybody should come out to please her- or himself and show diversity. Had it not been for the brave men during the Stonewall-era or for people like Harvey Milk, or to a lesser extend Freddie Mercury, reality might be even less pleasing for any nonconformist today. What you are trying to tell me is the opposite: Be conformist, because that way you'll not be a target to armed bigots. The silent German masses during Hitler's time thought just that.I for one, will stand up whenever I feel the need to. Regardless of what you think, because I have to stand up for myself.

FunLovinCriminal Some Gay people will come out others wont, it depends on there characters and yeah i applaud Peter Tatchell and Stonewall for there superb work over the years,
without them Gay People would be underground and probably in a scary world like those living in backward Russia.
There is a host of musical figures that were more out than Freddie, like Jimmy Somerville, Boy George Marilyn, Elton...........and i think they helped to shape the public's perception of the gay people.

Gay or not, Clark should do the decent thing and prepare those "Ready! Steady! Go!" tapes for full and comprehensive release.
Can't imagine he's spending hours wanking over his Dave Clark 5 performances........
But, then again.......

My thoughts almost exactly. I also love "It's in Everyone of Us" which wonderful people made available but I actually do have dream somebody doing a mashup of that song with Freddie and Kermit the Frog (Jim Henson) doing a duo.
Gay or not gay. Not my business. Couldn't care less either way.
And of course if we'd judge everyone for faulty or selective memory then we'd have to kill all our heroes.

As i said earlier sexuality is the individuals business no one else's.
No one should judge or criticise anyone in any way.
Infact its 2019 so why are we even talking about this ?

QUEEN3: Do you actually know what you are posting? There's lots of contradiction in your postings in this thread.
