His name is being spelled without an e at the end. Having had one drink too much?

What about Dave's presence at the These Are the Days of Our Lives filming bothers you? To me, he seems very protective of and worried about Freddie, understandably: Freddie was clearly incredibly ill by then.

My impression was that Dave cared a great deal about Freddie. He has the nicest things to say about Freddie in this interview and Freddie seems very comfortable in his company: https://youtu.be/L2C8fxCeEFA
(I know nothing about Dave's sexuality, but Freddie's little quip at the start of this interview "That's my girlfriend as well" seems a potential little jokey implication as to Dave's sexuality to me, indicating Freddie agrees that he's gay. Not that it matters whether Dave is gay, straight, bi, asexual, pansexual or whatever.)

It seems to me they were good friends and that Dave was there for Freddie when he was very ill and in the final years of his life.

I know nothing about Dave's career, but I think he was famous enough to have no need to be a hanger on to anyone. And I think Freddie had many different kinds of friends. Who likes to be friends with all people with exactly the same personalities or exactly the same personality as yourself?! I imagine Freddie would have found that idea rather dull?!

I don't know fully what happened with Peter Straker, but my feeling is that Freddie was terrified of the press (and probably his family too, even though his family must have known really) getting hold of a full story/confirmation from anyone that Freddie had AIDS. I heard Peter say he asked Freddie if he had AIDS and maybe at the time that was enough to scare Freddie and make him cut friendship with Peter? But others know way more about that than me. I personally never read anything about them falling out as much as Freddie just breaking contact, which to me signifies Freddie closing down the people he wanted around him in those final years rather than not getting on with anyone. I am explaining it badly.

Yes come to think of it i never saw Peter Straker at Fred's funeral, and i never knew they fell out.
Peter was always hanging around Freddie and always at Garden Lodge in the kitchen with the other guys.
As to Dave Clark well i am pretty certain he was gay but he was not really "out" like many of the celebs today he comes across as a private sort of guy.
I think Freddie could be his true self around other gay men and very shy and reserved around straight men.

Here's what Peter said in The Real Life. But I guess there can be many reasons why a person doesn't want someone around, especially in a situation when they are very ill and dying. It doesn't seem to me as though it was a falling out. It could be along the lines of what I said above (which I think I heard Peter speak about in a documentary maybe sometime?) or it could be as simple as not wanting any more people than need to know you're ill. It can even be protecting someone. Anyway, I guess we'll never know if Peter himself doesn't.

Yes that letter from Peter suggests that Freddie did not want Peter to visit him probably on the grounds that he did not want to upset Peter seeing him so frail and ill.
Freddie was still very thoughtful and the great man was dying, how humble was that!
It is also very annoying that a year after Freddie died they found a drug to stop people dying from HIV.

Yet another name, Clarity? And how surprising to read that you were present at Freddie's funeral service. That, of course, answers the question why Peter Straker hadn't been invited. Who needs or wants Peter Straker there if a person packed with wisdom such as yourself had lowered itself to having attended? I bet you went with Austin and Clark afterwards to some secret location, right? Can't wait to read more of your splendid revelations. You are really something.

I rightly or wrongly have assumed D.C. is gay or, as they used to say in the 60's, "a confirmed bachelor." I think he adored Freddie, as most of Freddie's friends felt similarly, to one degree or another.

It appears FM and DC were never romantically involved, or at least no one has ever said as such. DC certainly was devoted to FM and that devotion was evident in the amount of time DC spent with Freddie in his final days. I do take issue with DC claiming to have been the only one with Freddie when he passed, as that is contradictory to the other 2 people who were there and the details they provided.

As for Straker, I at first felt really bad when I read that he was cut out of FM's life the last year, but upon reflection it seems Freddie had his reasons for closing ranks and he knew what was right and what his needs were and who he wanted to be around.

I recall reading an interview with Mack saying that the reason Freddie/Queen didn’t work with him after AKOM was that as a real friend, Freddie didn’t want Mack having to live with seeing Freddie’s health deteriorate in front of him...it could be summised that Freddie took the same decision with others, including Peter Straker.
