I agree I will answer to he or she on here doesn't matter to me.As long as when someone sees my pic they dont think I'm a dude I'm okay.I think I'v got that one covered I couldn't grow facial hair if I tried. However I think men have so many nice things they dont have to worry about compared to women. They dont have to worry about their makeup , hair, they dont have to wear a bra and they can go without shirts in public .That would be kind of nice. Can you imagine the looks us women would get if we would do that.Well never mind on that one I have no idea where I was going with this it's a bit strange.

Live Aid Anniversary People
Not only is Queen's Live Aid set my all-time favorite Queen performance, it is my favorite performance of any musical group...ever. So powerful and riveting. I never tire of watching what I consider to be a master class in showmanship. Freddie, Brian, Roger, and John...thank for giving us pure MAGIC that day. That was one for the ages!
Rainbow, I remember alot of us were trying to recall how old we were on fb group I was 12 I think some of the others weren't even born yet.Its been a pretty awesome day down memory lane I agree .
Chevy...I have only seen their performance on YouTube...can't imagine how amazing it was to actually be there.
Doughnut...Glad you are enjoying "Queen: As It Began". I read it about a year and a half ago. I probably raced through it at the time, as I tended to do that when I got any new book about Freddie or Queen back then. It is definitely worth a reread as it was very informative and well-written. I appreciated the respectful tone of the book as well. It is not a book for someone looking for salacious details about the band.
I remember watching bits of Live Aid on tv, but I had two young children and couldn't watch the entire time. I did happen to see Queen's performance and I was mesmerized. I cannot believe this, but they weren't really on my radar at the time, but after seeing that I immediately went out and got the greatest hits album. That was the extent of it until about three years ago when I suddenly became obsessed. I'm still kicking myself for missing the opportunity to see them in concert.
Katydid.....thanks for the link about the cues. I have to say...it brought me to tears watching it but it was really good. I’m weepy after Live Aid Anniversary:)
Rainbow, I wish I had paid more attention but I can honestly say the first time I seen it the only thing I couldn't take my eyes off of is David Bowie. Me and a lady were talking about how attractive she thought he was.I thought to myself lady you need glasses he does nothing for me.He is a little strange too.So yes my first time around was wasted on David Bowie.I would rather look at Boy George any day.
Good to see you Annie! I'm glad you liked the link. I think about the Tribute concert and how rough that must have been for the band. I dont' know how they did it. I never know when the emotion will hit me. The Live Aid performance just jazzes me, but Freddie really gets me with Who Wants To Live Forever? There is so much power in his voice on that song. And of course...………...oh shoot, what is it called???...……………….the one Brian wrote after Freddie died. One by One?????
As the day is coming to an end- I had to watch Live Aid just one more time before midnight- it certainly was a classic.
Chevyman - as we all remembered just how old we were when Live Aid was broadcast it sure brought back memories for some- and for some they weren't born yet- really makes me feel old!!
Katydyd- I too was raising two young daughters and couldn't afford concerts but I did have Queen albums. I confess the movie renewed my interest and here I am as obsessed as a teenage girl. It's a good feeling:)!!
I definitely want to check out the music cues- sounds interesting!!
"Who Wants to Live Forever" is one of Queen's most powerful and beautiful songs. I'm sure it would have remained on the set list for all future tours...
Katydyd...the song is "No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young) So poignant. I like that they filmed the video mostly in black and white. Not only did the B&W fit the mood of the song perfectly, but it also set off the color footage of Freddie quite nicely. I'm so sad every time I watch that video though.
emdee...I also watched the Live Aid performance today (a couple of times). I have the Rock Montreal/Live Aid concert DVD. I've often wondered if there is other footage of Queen's performance that day? It would be great to see some different camera angles. For example, when Freddie does that little "dance" with the camera man...I'd love to be able to see both of them at the same time. To be honest, until I saw actual photos of that scene, I wasn't even sure what was going on. I love how playful and spontaneous Freddie was.

Happy Birthday Jo T!
Rainbow, thanks for sharing that letter. I don't know why the cues fascinate me, but they do. As for turning the sound off, I know how crazy that sounds. The thing is, I know the videos and songs so well that I can still hear them in my mind. I just enjoy looking for visual clues and body language. I just watched a quick video of one of the interviews Freddie did in Japan that was focused only on his face. He never spoke in the clip, so all you can hear in that video is the questions in Japanese. Turning the sound off allows me to focus on Freddie's face and there are just so many subtle emotions going across his face that it fascinates me. HIs eyes alone speak volumes. It's the interview where he playfully punches himself in the face.
Clearly I have a lot of time on my hands.[/QUOTE]
Katy,
I saw that video as well, and it’s obvious he didn’t necessarily want to be there. As much as he loved Japan, you could sense he didn’t want to do the interview. I mean, they did all the talking, and it took what felt like 5 minutes to ask one question then there was the translation process.....he does a mock-punch in the face as to say “Jim beach, get me outta here”......then he has the part where he looks straight at you and winks. Remember that?
Emdee, yes, I remember the wink. I think he almost looks sleepy at times. Jim Beach was off to his right, and we don't catch a glimpse of him until the end, but Freddie looks towards him several times with various facial expressions. To be honest, I found the interview almost boring at times, until the end when Freddie begins to talk a bit more personally. He mentions the difference between his stage persona and private, saying if you catch him at the right time he can be quite vulnerable. That's what fascinates me so; the difference between the public and the private. He also says that he thinks he looks pretty good for his age, which might have been 37, maybe 38. Looks pretty good???? Oh yeah!
You guys crack me up he did look really good at 37 or 38.He had just a little balding in the back of his head.He was a handsome man for a dark haired man .
