Hope didn’t share too much about Come from
away. If your going and don’t want details. Don’t look at last paragraph of my previous post. :—))

JB, I have tickets to Come From Away for the end of September. Lee had recommended it highly and I was delighted to see it is part of our Broadway Series this year. I'm excited!

Katydyd-
I’m excited for you too!!! :-))
Great to have these post-Queen concert events to look forward to. I’m so glad he mentioned it! Will be great to hear from you after you see it!

Dang, I'm good. I knew the video was in one of two places and I found it. The crown and cape happens very quickly at the end. You can see Freddie make a run for it and then you briefly see them helping him before he's back out.

I happened to get on the computer the day the tickets went on sale and even then the prices were extremely high. The concert sold out in less than a day, and after that scalp prices were ridiculous.
Thanks Katydyd, nice spray of videos off Facebook!

And, went to see Come From Away yesterday in Chicago. (Show Lee had mentioned about the planes that were diverted to Gander-Newfoundland 9-11) phenomenal! I’m so glad they are telling this story. Love how they presented it..., perfectly. What a valuable reminder about the depths of the impacts of kindness. . Loved how it brought home that people from all different backgrounds were brought together, and bonded. II remember hearing this story at the time but learned even more. (Like the person who cared for the animals) Thanks to Lee for mentioning it!
Thanks, JB050! Less than 1/2 hour after I saw your post, I got seats for my BF and I to see "Come From Away" in Oct. I was ecstatic to learn the tour shall come to my metropolis in the fall and that I wasn't too late. I vaguely, vaguely recalled that Lee had once highly recommended a show and typed in "Come From Away" in QZ's search box and found his review from the 2nd thread:

Yes, it's another post-Queen concert event to look forward to make the wait bearable for Thor and Lee's book!

Ooohhh Jo T. That’s so cool!!! So glad it will be by you and you got tickets! It seems to be completely selling out, at least it did for the ones I checked. It got great reviews in Chicago.

Thank you for finding and sending the link to Lee’s original post!!!!

Hi Amidds, thank you for your thoughtful comments and for trying to keep the civility here. Really appreciate it. Psychology is a fascinating topic. I took some psych classes in college and didn't like it then but am appreciating it now in the workplace. Did you study Myers-Briggs too? I always found it to be really interesting and helpful for a better understanding of others.

Katydyd, thanks for the FB link. The footage was new to me and so close up!! Really enjoyed it! :)

Amidds what was it you want to.discuss from ' as it began '? As you know i have read the book and I'm interested in your observations ?

Amidds I am very much like you in that I like to find out how people tick . That is probably why I read all the books etc as Freddie is so interesting . For me I don't
want to berate people for liking Mary , I'm more interested in how their relationship worked as it's so complex . To me it wasn't as simple as many people think . It really
Intrigues me .

Delliah it's fascinating that you wouldn't expect a thank you letter from bomi and jer.

Maybe that's the difference with people's ideals . Freddie appeared to be very much one for thanking people . There are several letters of this vain floating around the web and in David Evans book. I find this side of Freddie so endearing and assume it was part of his upbringing . I imagine he wouldn't have hesitated to send a thank you note to a family member .

I agree Freddie was respectful of not hurting his parents , this shows how much he thought of them and wanted to respect them . It must of been difficult for Freddie realizing he felt different and this different went against his family values.

I have seen two interviews with jer, one where she admits she didn't know he was gay and a later one where she said she wished he could of told her but she knows he was protecting them . This shows what a respectful man Freddie was .

Jb I recently read the story of the planes being diverted due to 9/11. I can't recall where I read it but I fe!t that it was a wonderful.story in the face of such tragedy.

Doughnut,That interview with Frefdies mom breaks my heart.By her saying she wishes he could've told her is an example of a mother's love for her child. They were good loving people if only all people had families this accepting and loving.

Katydid - yes! thanks for the vids! Some things I haven't seen before. The people here seem to be the best at finding hidden gems....

JB050 - thanks for the reminder for Come Away, I forgot all about it and really want to see it. Now to hope it's not sold out!

HelloDelilah-I actually had to look up Myers-Briggs, don't remember that tho we are talking the late 80's when I was in school. Of course, it's based off of Jung who I do remember! My internship was actually what made me jump ship and switch my major to business but the fascination is still there :)

Doughnut - Haven't started the book yet - still trying to catch up from vacation. I'm sure I will have many questions/observations when I start....want to give it my full attention as I feel I've breezed through all the other books I've read and need to do re-reads now! I couldn't agree more about the hating on either Jim or Mary. I think they both provided Freddie with love and friendship. I don't think he was his true self with Mary after their relationship ended and kept her out of portions of his life, unlike with Jim and other close friends like Phoebe, Joe, NY Daughters who he could truly be himself around. But, isn't that life? There are many people we hide things from because we don't want to hurt them or feel that might fully understand us. All relationships can be complicated. That makes the few "real" ones we have so wonderful!!

As far as trying to keep the civility here (hope I didn't sound judgemental) - I really had been excited by Perk's post and a few others who provided some very insightful and well thought out views on FM and his thoughts. Some really great points were brought up that, while they reinforced my beliefs, I hadn't put much thought to.....I hope we can get to the point where we can have those in depth convos!!

Oh dear, I think I just wrote another novella....sorry!

Amidds, you weren't judgemental at all I probably feel a little different than some of the ladies on these subjects and do not understand why it matters who loves or loved who.I am quick to anger .I guess I just see love and relationships differently than alot of folks here.Guess that's the reason for my frustration .Everyone should feel acceptance for who they are.I would change nothing about anyone.Thats my idea anyway.

Hi doughnut, I was half joking about writing thank you notes to my family. I don’t necessarily write thank you notes but feel that small tokens of appreciation (like a homemade baked good) in lieu of a thank you note will suffice. I agree that they are gracious people but wouldn’t expect a thank you note from his parents.
