We all know Freddie gets the big screen treatment at Queen gigs these days but Brian & Roger do not honour John Deacon, so why is that? John has every right to be mentioned and he was after all a brilliant bass player and a valuable member of Queen plus he has wrote some amazing songs.

Maybe he doesn't want to be mentioned?

^^^ this. Brian has posted about his birthday on all his social media so they still think of him but maybe he doesn't want including in the shows, he likes to stay private and also Freddie died but John retired by choice so it's not quite the same thing. Just my impression.

He also appeared on footage projected on the backdrop when I saw them and got a big cheer. Brian also played a solo YMBF. He is remembered.

I'm still really surprised that they don't play You're My Best Friend at Q+AL concerts especially when it's one of Queen's most played songs - it still has regular plays globally including the UK and US.

At the 02 a few years back when they played TATDOOL, I remember the montage. He got a huge cheer when he appeared on the screen.

Ah yes, back in 2012. That was kind of neat - at each Hammersmith show he did a different tune before LOML.

Why do they have to honor John? he quit. they honor Freddie because he died. in general culture - we honor the dead. and we usually don't give the spotlight to those who turn their backs on us.
in terms of his legacy, he should be remembered - but not at the shows.

The Real Wizard, it was endearing to see Brian engaging with the audience in the sing along like how Freddie did. I watched a couple of shows (7/12 and 7/14/2012). Thanks for the tip!

jimmy DEAN If the Queen family is as close as they say it is then John should be remembered and in light that he is not a well man he is still suffering depression and May & Taylor have sad some nasty things about John in the past.
He was still a very valuable member of Queen.

The queen family was close in the 70s, 80s.... not today. And you mention depression however, that is only speculation. If John Deacon instead added some insight as to whether he was diagnosed with depression that would change the game a bit. Queen could be a pillar of hope for not only aids but for depression as well. Whether John Deacon has depression or not is a private matter. John Deacon values his privacy. It would be inconsiderate of the band to constantly pay tribute in the same was as they do for Freddie when John himself did not agree with continuing the band after 1997 whereas Freddie has allegedly given his blessing. “just don’t make me boring”, or whatever that quote was.
So for ongoing shows I believe just mentioning John in the context of songs is adequate. But in terms of their history, legacy - John was 1/4 of the band no more no less.

I remember seeing "Queen" + Paul Rodgers, and when they were showing old images of the band on the big screen, they were kind of zoomed in and went from one side to the other and it cut off before it would have shown John. I didn't imagine that.

that's definitely disrespectful if it were the case. Although, i imagine they were probably not happy with John's decision to not join them at that time. They've obviously softened their stance in recent years.

John was most definitely featured in archive video when they played These Are The Days Of Our Lives during the Q+PR 2005 tour. The audience cheered every time. I don't know if this changed in the Q+AL shows since I've only seen then in the U.S. and they never play that song stateside.
