Bands look outwardly like a family yes, but it is a job. It isn't a magical fantasy it's people working very hard to make money and having meetings about budgets and HR issues. We know that relationships were fraught from the early 80s - really only having their lifespan extended in any meaningful way due to ill health. After the fallout John was able to do what he probably wanted to do since about 1984 which was step away. IE leave the job. It's all speculation of course but the evidence suggests this.

I'd agree with that, from things they all said at times it's obvious they didn't always get on that great off stage, Brian has even said recently that he and Roger argue about every single thing but they've come to a sort of understanding and are kinder to each other, maybe that's due to age and no longer being under the same pressures they were when trying to make albums etc. They all rallied round Freddie when he was ill and I'm sure they did love him and each other in some ways but like family you can care about someone and not really agree with them or even love spending too much time with them. For John once he walked away from the job maybe there was nothing in common left to stay in touch for.

rockchic65, I saw those posts too. Brian constantly makes conscious efforts to include both Freddie and John in whenever and wherever he can and even travelled to Zanzibar right before the North American Rhapsody tour, reflecting and remembering Freddie. They are definitely not forgotten. Perhaps people took it out of context when Brian or Roger make comments esp Brian when he made that comment about Adam can do the same... He didn't seem malicious about it but I realize others will disagree. And I'm not even an Adam fan. :)

dysan, I don't keep in touch with work colleagues from 25 years ago either, but it seems as the band was like a family as they toured all over the world for months at a time but at the same time, they didn't get into each other's personal lives. John seems to just want his privacy and cut everyone out of his life from that time. :([/QUOTE]

I do think Brian gets taken out of context, he doesn't always think how something might sound before he says it and a lot of times there's no way to know from a written interview exactly what was said, things get taken out of context by interviewers as well either accidentally or deliberately to stoke controversy. End of the day a lot of what he does points to him caring about Freddie but it's been 28 years and it wouldn't be normal if he hadn't moved on to some extent, people can still love someone who died and make room for new people without it being disloyal. He's been working with Adam for large amounts of time for several years now, I don't see anything wrong with him caring about Adam as well but some fans seem to have a problem with that.

Yeah - like when you meet up with old colleagues and you reach that terrible realisation that beyond talking about events from 30 years ago, you have absolutely nothing in common and begin to remember the frustrations they caused.

'So.. how's work?'

'Oh we've got 120 new crew members you've never met before and I'll tell you all about them and how much more fun they are than you..'

Seems to me like you are being the negatively stubborn one. Presented with facts that counter your opinion you still hold on to it with your fingers firm in your ears. Changing your mind when your view doesn't hold up to reality is not a bad thing you know. It's actually how grown ups behave instead of the brats we all once were.
Also, don't act like you speak for everyone and don't try to tell others who respond to you in quite a normal way what to do. Maybe it's you who need to take a break and buy a mirror.

Well excuse me looks like someone got out of the bed the wrong side this morning! lol
I stick to my opinions and that is my insatiable right and just for the record yes i probably am right most of the time especially when so many dim wits on here have not got a clue what Queen use to stand for !

Nope, woke up just fine thank you. There's a wall on the other side so I don't have much choice!
Yeah thats blatantly obvious that you stick to your opinions, almost religiously but that will never get you anywhere and will never help further your knowledge or view. You are closed of from everything other than what you yourself can come up with. If you just want to yell and never learn than go right ahead, stay on course. As you say you of course have that right but don't be surprised at people calling you out for it in life. Because to others, that's just dumb, annoying, childish and limited.
Being so full of oneself has never brought anyone any satisfaction in the long run but has increased the delusions one has. Good luck man, it's not wise.

You're the genius who once claimed here that Queen's Montreux performance was live and when corrected on that you then claimed you mistook it for Live Aid. What a font of Queen knowledge you are...
