Really, really, really boring. And if they stick to the more than awful Barcelona Orchestral Edition, it´s even more boring.
Anyway ... we were so lucky to have "the" solo box many years ago. And that one was amazing. Everything was in there. Wow, we even had Freddie singing with a cold.
We´ll never get anything close to that.

Well, a boring release

i personally liked the Barcelona Special Edition. My only problem was the mixing and some of the changes. This box set in general is a big meh though

I wonder which of the several versions of She Blows Hot and Cold will be included? One of the edits with Brian on, or one with Paul Vincent doing a replication/impersonation of him?
They all are the same take of this song. Same guitarist, same guitar.
Solo Collection Rarities 1 features new mix of the same recording which was released as the b-side.
All this 'replication' story is an asumption or maybe even a speculation.
Interesting...is that definite that every version has Brian on guitar? I (and many others) have always believed that there were versions with Brian on, and ones with Paul Vincent. This was confirmed (or at least intimated) in the Freddie Solo Box text in 2000 too. There are certainly also 4 mixes of the track (regardless of guitarist) and my original summary of that is at the following link (which I now note you commented on back in 2017), so I still wonder which of the shorter mixes will appear on this set.
who wants a good release if we have jigsaws....

Oh Christ! And a large proportion of the pieces in three of those will be just completely black or white respectively....!!!

Another rehash that's named dubiously. At least they've gone through the trove to find something colourful. Bad shot (of Freddie) but i suppose being under a guy in drags legs making gestures is evidence of fun.
That said, i really do like the color scheme it's an attempt to be modern "throwback" which is ironic since he's from the era of this kind of Donna Summer, Al DiMeola, Roxy Music kind of kick.
Modern right down to the inevitable questions of "illuminati" stuff since one eye is covered and the other is in a triangle of lace.
Anyways. It's so damn disappointing that they'd side with the orchestra remix of BARCELONA instead. It lacks considerable oomf and the dynamics are horribly askew.
More evidence that it's the remix is the visible track 8: "Exercises in Free Love" that was included. I forget what was different i only played it back like three times then retired it somewhere

Hahaha yeah, they didn't think this one out
Interesting covers would've been
THE MIRACLE (though much repeated skyline)
A KIND OF MAGIC
SHEER HEART ATTACK
INNUENDO
Of course NOTW & 2 are good.

Live Magic could be a good one and the back photo of Made In Heaven with Brian, Roger, John and the Freddie statue, too.
Anyway 500 pieces...Very small, i´m used to compile 3000 pieces jigsaws...

If they found the outtakes and rushes from the videos they could make some "new" videos just like the "new" Barcelona and time waits for no one video and upscale it to HD.
I also believe there were a couple of mastertapes found from the Barcelona sessions a couple of years back with some demo's that were played at the convention. They can add those tracks too.
Well, I seriously doubt that all of the Mr Bad Guy tracks were given the same "Queen" treatment as Love Kills but we'll see. I hope that as Inu has implied this really is something new. Let's wait for the press release

I remember a couple of months ago, that somebody says that Rudi Dorezal was working on a doc of Freddie with all the interviews that he did to him. That could be a very interesting add to this collection, but I don't think that they will be doing that. Doro stop working with Queen Productions long time ago

Do you know Brian May played that guitar without Freddie alive? Because Brian wasn't in Mr. Bad Guy sessions.
Paul Vincent, rest in peace.
Mike Moran, a real hero and loyal friend, as John Deacon.
The rest....ego+money+ bad taste.
