Sooo, does this mean that a bunch of QUEEN stuff is lost to the dumpster? And I am not just asking about personal stuff he had of product but actual recordings, film, and information? Why would someone if not from QUEEN Productions then from the fan community not have gotten whatever from him before something like this happened? Does anyone know what he had that would be lost now?[/QUOTE]
Really? ... and the body is still warm ...
...
Oh I ain't greedy
and give you what you never had
Don't you know I must 've learned a thing or two
He'll play them hits electrifyin'
God bless the Guv'nor

I only knew John through QZ and his Record Collector magazine articles ... Yet I got goosebumps hearing of his passing.
John was more than what he gave to the Queen community ... He was a true gentleman.

Classy as always.

A rare soul. There is a parallel universe where his knowledge opened up the full archive for all to enjoy already, but that time will come.

R.I.P.
Such a loss of knowledge and a man who had such a genuine love for the band and their music.
I truly hope that the executors of his estate can find away to ensure that this knowledge and collection are saved for posterity and not lost.

You do not come across as a well being.
And there you have it.

Brian's Wig mentioned many of John's contributions to the Queen fan community and related academia, and for those of us who weren't around here 15 years ago, one cannot properly convey the excitement felt when John posted his copies of the BBC sessions, where we were graced with Nevermore and White Queen from session 4 for the first time. This was monumental, and he asked for nothing in return.
His articles in Record Collector magazine in the 1990s were revolutionary, where he more or less rewrote the history of early Queen. He single-handedly sparked the interest in thousands to further investigate the history of this great band.
But that's all secondary to his character. John was a kind, thoughtful, well-spoken, generous man who always put friendship before music. A gentleman and a scholar - but always a gentleman first.
RIP John. Queen fandom is a better place for having you in it, but your friendship is what those of us closest to you will miss the most.
