He really doesn't like Brian May!!

Amongst other things he confirms Brian was the only one who didn't take drugs - he was already on another planet!

Thanks for posting! I've read his book and like hearing his take on things. I'm a big JD fan so it was cool hearing the nice things he said about John in addition to his thoughts on working with Freddie.

Really enjoyed this, thanks!

Didn't get the impression that he doesn't like Brian, he just stated facts about his personality. Did enjoy his insight, he is obviously one of the best sources for Queen "reality". His comments on the movie are fair and valid. Why the hell would you not show the actual Live Aid set with the real Queen? The money spent on rebuilding the Wembley set could have been used to purchase the rights to include the actual show it in the movie.
Well worth a listen.

Highlighs:

Queen were wild and there parties too. Why? They worked their asses off in the seventies till 1982 ( album-tour-album tour) and need some outlet for the stress level.

Queen wardrobe head (Phoebe??) was an alcoholic and responsible for the Auckland 1985 accident with Freddie’s trousers back to forward.

Freddie and Brian had the most verbal fights and tantrums.

There were only three Queen roadies on the payroll for 45 p. a week. Peter Hince, crystal Taylor and I think Brian Zellis. The rest was hired.

The Bo Rhap movie had so many inaccuracies. They could have done it so much better. It’s the music that carries the movie made it a succes. The story was crap, details were crap, timeline was crap. However the actors were good according to Ratty. They didn’t contact anyone from the old Queen camp , besides Phoebe, to take a look at the instruments Etc.
You made us laugh, you made us cry, you made us feel like we could fly!

Disappointing that they didn’t contact the old road crew if they were wanting period accuracy as they claimed....Roger even said on camera on the backstage footage at the Live Aid filming that they should contact his old roadie to get the kit set up right.

I'd be pretty certain he DOESN'T like May. They've already had a public falling out:

Fragile ego or what! Completely complimentary about the band, but May clearly didn't like his comments on the Queen+ shite - unless his response is due to something in Hince's book.

I thought it was interesting he still had some (limited) contact with Mary Austin, I thought she had completely gone to ground. It plays into my current (poorly evidenced) conspiracy theory that there is a schism between Brian, Roger And Jim Beach on one side and various others who are less impressed with the post Freddie legacy on the other.

I really like his point about 'it would've been really easy to get it right' (regarding gear and stuff). Again, it's not like they had to spend a billion quid and ten more years. A couple of grand to get some live witnesses to consult for a week or so and voila!
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.
