It's now just over 5 years since the last 'new' track with Freddie was released.

How did it age for you?

I was not impresed at all when it was released, but it grew a lot for me and is now a very frequently played Queen song on my playlists. I love Freddies voice and singing, which makes the track for me.

Still I do not see how this would have fit on the Works and I doubt that it would have been a single hit, but I like it a lot.

Anybody else willing to share their thoughts?

Great track. Should've been on The Works instead of Man on the Prowl or Tear It Up.

But hindsight is 20/20, ain't it ?

I love it. Weirdly, I even prefer the Orbit version even though it shouldn't work. I also loved the fantastic promotional video.

I like it. Typical 80's Queen, but more The Works than A Kind Of Magic

I would definitely have preferred it to man on the prowl, which I never miss an opportunity to mention as being the worst thing Queen ever did.

However, it would have been different, or Hammer to fall would have been different, if it had made the album. The guitars are far too similar to have both been included as is. I will say that I liked the track 5 years ago and I still like it now.

So after reading this I went to youtube to check the Orbit remix, probably for the first time after 5 years. I don't think I will ever listen to it again. But the album version is still great

I think the Orbit Remix is pretty good as well. And the video is definitely well edited.

PREACH.

I could write an essay on why that song symbolizes Queen's lowest point creatively.

I remain baffled that the band who created A Night At The Opera could sink so low with such trite self-parody a mere eight years later. There's a reason why this is one of the few tracks the band have never spoken about.

You know. Now that you've roasted it and we've seen the impossible happen (*a shitty and trite joke of a biopic become the highest grossing musical bio ever) - i can expect some hack like Seth Rogen or maybe Seth McFarlane come out and use it in a "1001 ways to die in the west" sequel.

Hipsters would sing it's praise and soon would Brian, saying how unfair it was that THE WORKS is not up there in the 1984 pantheon with THRILLER and PURPLE RAIN.

Oh right. The song.

I'm still not fond of it. But I'm grateful it doesn't sound like many QUEEN songs. I don't feel like it's as much a WHITESNAKE ripoff anymore. But i DO feel like Brian probably did something heavy with the arrangement since then to hide the fact that it is attempting to be modern MOR Rock like the WHITESNAKE hit Here I go From 1982.

Their creativity had waned a bit. The vocal on the tape doesn't sound like a final....so it was likely ditched in favor of other stuff. It's very crispy as if by tape damage

well. i don't like it at all.
don't get me wrong... any record would have been welcome. and its WAY better than the william orbit remix of... whatever... i forgot about the name of THUS.
.
BUT... not a singalong. not a deep cut..
... but *just* a track. yes.
but.. *JUST* a track... redrawn from the works... the other nine quite weak tracks seemed to have been better.
LMIHA seems to have a quite musically base of view. a queen-like . for what it's worth. but it's not a track you would have in your mind... when it comes to compare it with a "radio gaga" or a "tear it up". a "world that we created".

yes. thee were fillers like... man on the prowl. or some others ... i'll even count "hammer to fall" to THAT.
it was a mediocre album. and the track we're talking about was weakest.
simple as that.

It was fantastic and joyful to hear THAT voice again. Aside from hearing the live version of FFMS and some of those NotW 50th tracks, LMIYHA is really the only time I've felt moved by a Queen release for a decade or two.

Fabulous track. Orbit remix sucked... what a disaster to release that remix as a single... whose shitty idea was that?!

I would never have thought that I would ever say sth like this but that Dobson version is better. Brian's playing seems more natural and fitting and different key that seems to be working much better. Not to mention that the vocals from 2014 version are very rough and in some places Freddie's totally oversinging it.
