This is brilliant news!

such an amazing story, ive looked around and found that this Pink Floyd recording is Volume 18 of a series, does anyone have a list of what volumes 1-17 are?

"Due to Pink Floyd’s popularity, tickets were in extremely high demand and expensive. As a result, we attended only the one night."

This gives me a lot of hope that Mike attended more than just one Queen gig, as Pink Floyd were of much higher demand in the States than Queen were. We could be seeing the greatest Queen haul ever if this is the case.

I've just listened to the Pink Floyd one. Holy shit if they have some Queen ones at this sort of quality that'll be huge!

I've heard bits of the Floyd show before and it sounds awesome. If everything is like that, then we're in for some treats.

Interestingly, the site David Bowie World only rates the sound quality of the Bowie LA Form '78 show as 3 stars out of 5, but I've not heard anything to say whether that's bollocks or not. I know there was a bootleg called Slaughter In The Air, which was nice - if Millard's recording is better, then I can't see me agreeing with Bowie World.

A recent mini-documentary done on Mike Millard. Well worth watching. https://vimeo.com/190021070/14a4b5b7ca ^ and this one is about one of the four guys that make up JEMS, tapers from the 1970s who continue to unearth brilliant recordings to this day, including the Millard archive. They taped Queen in Seattle 1977, a recording many of us here know well. But their most enduring tapes are undoubtedly Zeppelin in Seattle 75 (some still prefer them over the soundboard tapes that have since emerged). The dedication of these four guys to creating and proliferating the best is pretty well unparalleled. So if you enjoy old concert tapes and haven't really thought much about where they come from, then these two links are a good crash course in seeing how well it can be done.

More fuel for the anticipation fire...

The guy that recorded Santa Monica 76 went to the Forum in 1977, didn't tape it, and is known to have sometimes helped this fella make recordings...

circumstantial, but encouraging nevertheless

That's some good sleuthing.

His photos are from 3-3-77, and we already have a half decent sounding tape of half of that night. Killer show - always wanted to hear the rest of it.

We'll know soon enough.

I did the same observation :-)

I also like Thin Lizzy a lot so a complete Mike Millard recorded LA 77 night from both bands would be quite something!

Mike Millard taped foremost in LA but also in Long Beach and San Diego. My favourite Queen tour is NOTW US 1977 and the band then played 2 shows in Long Beach, 1 in San Diego and 1 at the LA Forum. I've got all my fingers and toes crossed for a Millard recording of one of those too! That would be beyond amazing since we'd finally have a great audience recorded document of that NOTW tour.

The speculation is part of the fun ;-)
