Yes He or More likely Queen productions and or Jim Beach but not necessarily Brian May on his own stopped a box set release. But at what point was it stopped and for what reason. You don't know.
As for adverts. There are many that use other artists music. David Bowie hasn't popped up to push the use of his music in an ad campaign, but his record company certainly have.
