Hi Peeps,

Me again !

Thank you for your warm welcome :)

Just come back from a haircut. Feel sorry for the hairdressers. They wear a mask, visor and plastic surgical apron. *phew*! Bad enough in my mask !

I have yet to order the Neal Preston book. I'm unsure yet. I'll be cheeky and use 'Petal' as a book reviewer! :-D ,

I have just purchased 2 Freddie things. I will attach photos. Bought these with birthday present money. :-) They havent arrived yet, the lamp may not be delivered until October!

For those of you who remember the tale of my cat Mitzy. She had a tumour removed from her groin in January.

No obligation to carry on reading this long, long diatribe, but some of you may want to "catch-up" with the saga.

Well, we've been on a long journey since. She had 2 referral appointments at another vets and radiation treatment was recommended. That's not as easy as it is with humans as (1) Cats (and dogs) have to be anesthetized to have the treatment as you have to remain completely still during treatment, and (2) There are far, far less linear accelerators available to treat animals. Only 4 places in England offer it. We ended up.going to a specialist centre in Suffolk (about 130 miles from me) , and I was to leave her there for 15 treatments which would take 5 weeks (heartbreaking to leave her there even though I planned to visit) Sadly she never even got to have a single treatment as during a pre-treatment CT scan under anaesthestic, she developed a pneumothorax (collapsing lung) and they felt repeated anaesthtics were unsafe. :'-(. SO, after 10 days there I brought her home again.

Then came lockdown and Mitzy decided to.complicate things further by running after a bird and hurting her back (she was already limping, as she had suffered sciatic pain as a consequence of surgery) Her walking was dreadful. Kept falling over, and walked like John Wayne.

She had several weeks of a drug called Gabapentin, which didn't seem to help at all. For the last 50 days I've been giving her twice daily doses of pet-strength CBD oil (cannabis oil with the tetrahydrocanabanol removed) which a dear soul on my FB group recommended. It has seemed to be beneficial.

Also, she has begun having acupuncture sessions, given by my vet, who is trained in animal.acupuncture, . She has had 3 sessions so far, and seems, (she says with crossed fingers and a prayer to the Big Guy) to show some improvement. She's more stable and barely ever falls over anymore. I just hope it does help her to gain some normality back!

She even walked down the stairs this morning before I could stop her (my heart was in my mouth!)

Thankfully, all but the 'excess' amounts. £130 for veterinary treatment and £65 for complementary treatment, have been paid for by my pet insurance company! Money well.invested I have to say! :-)

I had COVID-19 symptoms in mid-March. Persistent, cough, runny nose, persistent very high temperature. Was sent home from.work. Don't know if it _was_ COVID, though.

Well, that's my catch-up news for the moment. Hope you haven't dropped off from this monologue. :-)

Take Care, Peeps. I'll drop in again soon!!

Cheery-bye for now.

Hello. Freddie darling, What a long text how’s your cat?
K
Jo, I love that video! Did you also notice that Freddie is wearing Ratty's gloves? You can see "Ratty" written across the knuckles of the gloves.

Petal, I still have the Preston book in the "save" portion of my cart because of the cost. I'm not sure if Amazon charges for pre-ordered books immediately or if they wait until the release so I decided to go that route. I'm going to move it up into my cart in September. Right now I'm spending a bit too much time in Amazon as it is! As for Queenchat, I also like certain aspects of it. They are all certainly knowledgeable about the music and the history and I've learned a lot. That's where I got the info about the All the Songs book, and I love the pictures section. There is so much there that I"ve only explored the surface. I'll have to take a look at the magazines section. It's not an area I've explored yet. I've only posted a few times and for now that's enough, but it's a great site.

FD, thanks for the update on Mitzy. Since you and I email, I already knew much of that but it's nice to see the update. You are one dedicated mama! I love both the gifts you treated yourself to! I've eyed those lamps myself and may drop a hint to my kids. I was just noticing the other day that my Freddie mugs have coffee stains, so maybe it is time for a new one. I love to browse sites for Freddie items!

Happy Belated Birthday to John Deacon! There was a massive amount about him on FB yesterday in the various Queen sites and I enjoyed it all.

BTW, Petal, I can relate to the "not doing much" during this virus. I'm only seeing immediate family and only getting out to the grocery store once a week. It disturbs me that I find myself accepting this as normal at this point. It's almost become ok that I'm so isolated. I miss my friends! I am going to get together with several of them next week weather permitting. We'll sit outside and catch up with each other and the way I'm looking forward to that you'd think it was Christmas.

MHZ, I meant to mention the pool bull! Most people don't even know what I am talking about when I mention it, but it is hilarious! None of the adults have managed to get on it, but each time I see them the kids are more proficient. Best purchase for the pool yet!

Katydyd5 --- re coffee/tannin stains I occasionally treat my mugs to a soak in denture cleanuing tabs (steradent) cleans them up a treat when soaked overnight. Bleach does a fair job, too.

Sometimes I will put a little table salt inside the mug, and use that as a scouring medium. Run the soapy washing-up sponge inside the mug. Gets into the nooks and crannies.:-)

Katy, with pre order, if the price goes down Amazon will give a refund. I had pre ordered the latest Stephanie Mayer book and the day after release I received a small refund as the price had decreased. I assume this is what will happen with Neil's book if the price does down. If the price increases I won't have to pay more as I have the pre order price guaranteed.

I have been using Amazon way to much in this lockdown lol

This evening me, my other half and my two girls are going out to dinner for the first time since the virus hit. Our government are trying to boost the economy by setting up a scheme whereby if you eat in at a participating restaurant Monday to Wednesday we get 50% off. The government pay the remaining 50%.

Thankfully I have managed to see some of my friends but in the height of this I was missing them terribly so I know who you feel. I did give a friend a cuddle at the weekend as I've missed it.

I recently bought the Fan Club magazine dedicated to Freddie after his death, so it's 1991. I bought it from a seller on FB . It cost a lot for what it is but Brian wrote a beautiful dedication to Freddie . I'll have to figure out how to add attachments on here so I can show you.

Have you seen there is an announcement ; tonight at midnight UK tIme I think. I'm guessing it will be a queen & AL Live album.

Jo T, I'm with you re: retreating until 2021! Maybe if we hibernate for a few months, we can have life back as we knew it!

Fredfie, I do love your purchases! Have seen the meme on the coffee cup a few times and I chuckle each time I see it. I feel like there is a Queen lyric for every occasion. Glad to hear your Mitzy is doing better, it's always so difficult to know what to do with animals b/c you can't have the discussion of how are you feeling? Is this treatment working for you?, etc. Kinda left with letting your $ or a good guess dictate what you do for them. Good thing you have pet insurance and don't have to let that make your decisions!! My kitty is getting older and, during her wellness check this year, they were concerned that she is losing weight. She's always been slim and dropped a couple of lbs over the past year but she seems so happy and healthy! I let them do some blood work and nothing showed up so refrained from the xrays they wanted to do. My Roxy HATES going outside of the house and I didn't see subjecting her to frequent visits when there's no sign of anything. So, keeping my fingers crossed for now and am glad I didn't have to make the difficult decisions you had to!

Katy, still chuckling over your pool bull.....let us know if the adults get brave. A few years ago, I would've loved to give it a try. Now, I'm feeling my age a little and have to remind myself to just be a bystander ;)

Petal, so sorry you had to miss the concert. I mean, I guess we should all be thankful that we are healthy, and I'm sure we all are, but its those little disappointments that add insult to injury.

Oh and coffee stains - lightly rub with a scouring pad, that should do it. OR.....use it as an excuse to get rid of the ones you don't like anymore and stock up on FM ones!!!
K
Petal, I'll bet you are correct about a Queen+AL album. There has been a lot of talk of that on queenchat. I have to admit I'd probably be interested. I was so fortunate to see them in concert a year ago and it's an experience I will never forget.

Thanks for all the advice on Amazon. You'd think by now I know that. I'll move the Preston book up into my cart, though I'm trying to hold off until September for another order.

Thanks also for all the advice on the coffee stains. Here's TMI on my housekeeping skills and interest. I look at it this way: once the coffee is in the cup no one sees the stain anyway. That's me! I don't actually drink coffee, for me it's a dunking medium for biscotti. I'm mostly a water drinker, though I do love a good ice cold Diet Mountain Dew.

Oh and Petal, I'm envious of your trip out to a restaurant! I like the 50% deal. I'm a foodie, so restaurants were one of my biggest pleasures. I'm currently relying on DoorDash every weekend for food treats. I'm a good cook, just don't enjoy it much anymore.

Petal. take a screenshot of the image you want, then when you post, choose reply instead of a Quick Reply then upload the file. [Choose File] select your photo file click/tap relevant photo and then [post message] :-) Easy peasy lemon squeezy.;-)

Then your chosen photo will be available for viewer to download.

Welcome back to Petal! I’m glad we are getting so many gathered here!

FD, I hope your cat improves, that is a lot to endure. My cat was 18 and passed away 2 years ago, we went through a lot of stuff with her but she was tough and held on for a long happy life. It really shows a big heart to care for an animal so deeply! And yes, grapes are poisonous to dogs, as are raisins. My dogs love peas and green beans, but are not partial to carrots unless they are cooked! They really love watermelon...though...

Katy, I went to a chocolate factory in France once and they had the most delicious stuff..I ordered some quite a while back but you have me wanting to do it again. I am trying to be strong, lol!

I preordered Rudi’s book...I sure hope it gets released before Christmas but that is probably a pipe dream.

Happy Birthday John Deacon!!!
Love is still the answer, take my hand...
K
Petal, thanks so much for the heads up on the fan club magazines on queenchat! They go all the way back to the beginning. Id' never even peeked at that section. I see some fun reading in my future.
