Katydyd, I saw the pic of Rudi in his face shield....on an isolated beach. Had to laugh. It's like seeing people wearing them in their cars - what's the point? Although, I guess if it gives them peace of mind then, it's good. At least they're wearing them. Now that some schools are back in session, I see kids w/their parents waiting for the bus in the mornings. There will be about 10 parents and kids standing close together and maybe one kid will be wearing a mask. I just have to shake my head.
So sad w/the hurricanes. I heard on the news that evacuees are going to be put up in hotels due to COVID. I was pretty relieved to hear that - nothing like losing everything then ending up in a crowded place and contracting COVID!
Rainbow, isn't it fun to go through stuff you've put away and find treasures? Your post made me think of years ago when my mom was trying to downsize and had decades worth of National Geographic mags from my dad. We tried so hard to donate them to libraries but they said they were overwhelmed w/them. I guess everyone tried to get rid of them when they could get them online!!
Lsgp, hope your friends are well! Sooo scary!

Thanks. Heard from one friend who evacuated and she said her parents door cam showed looters breaking in and taking what was left. Heinous!
Haven’t heard from other friends yet but 99.9% sure it’s because of cell towers down.
Its a miracle that the surge was minimal. Absolute miracle. Thankful that its wind damage because rising water or flooding not covered on a homeowners policy. Wind is covered. Looks more like tornado damage than hurricane damage.
Every building and home was damaged and probable electrical back up in 1 to 2 weeks.
It was 97 today. No A/C.
Although everything damaged its amazing that 150 mph didn’t do more.
Ok back to Queen as I’m sure I haven’t heard from anyone due to lack of Cell towers and electricity. What a shame it was such a pleasant place to live, at least when i was there.

Well that was quick. They are showing it again tomorrow. It’s concert footage/video of just The Show Must Go On. Now I must go watch some concert videos with Freddie To get my fix.
I see there is more good conversations to catch up on. Roll review and reply this weekend.
Hope you are all well.

JB050...Just finished watching the video of "The Show Must Go On"...all it did was make me REALLY want to go to another Queen+AL concert. I forgot to watch the video at 7:00 (so much for my sticky note reminder). I didn't remember until about 7:50, but it was still being shown. Just for the fun of it, I looked at concert tickets for the London shows next summer. There are very few tickets left. You never know when you might win the lottery...it's best to be prepared! LOL. Seeing Queen in London would be a dream!

Oh Rainbow, that chocolate is fun!!! I always buy several packages of Quality Street chocolate at Christmas since it was Freddie's favorite, but it's not this much fun.
Here's Freddie with his Quality Street candy!
Lsgp...That is so cool. I am not at all surprised that Queen's Live Aid performance was voted #1. I wonder how many groups over the years have watched that performance and thought, "We will never be that great".
Katydyd....I just found the Freddie chocolate yesterday. It does look like fun. I especially love that box has a magnet on it and the chocolates have quotes on the back. I had $3.04 left on my gift card...guess what I just spent it on? :)

Rainbow I couldn’t agree with you more!! It ended and I said wait no. Want more. Haha. We were looking in to trying for one of the London shows pre-Covid.
A blessing in disguise that we hadn’t purchased a trip, I guess. :-)) That’s really cool that you were looking at tickets!! Ow that would be a great use of lottery money!! It would be fun to take lottery win and arrange for us all to go with accommodations...Freddie style :-)

Katy and lsgp,
Ohhh thanks for the Chocolate link! Added to my cart too. ;/)
And, lspg, Spellcheck autocorrected to lipgloss—haha) Thanks for the article. YES!!! It’s amazing, watching it as a teenager and knowing how I felt seeing it, but at the time, could never have known how history-making it was.
Rainbow-I love your response to the article too!!’
Hi Fredfie!! I Believe I owe you a reply. going back to catch up.
Have a nice weekend all!

Oooh...a chocolate discussion...I’m all in!!! Rainbow, you and I must be related somehow, I have the exact same taste. I don’t like dark chocolate, don’t like fruit in my chocolate (although a chocolate covered strawberry is doable), I will take anything milk chocolate with nuts or caramel, and white chocolate is amazing! I have also been known to eat the chocolate cover off of a cream center in a box of chocolates, lol! Why do they ruin a perfectly good box of chocolates with fruity cream centers? Argh! : D. The chocolate factory I visited in France was the Valrona one, and I must say I was in heaven. In the showroom, they had all the different varieties and huge open baskets next to each one with piles of samples to eat. I took home way too much! My favorites are a caramel flavored white chocolate, to die for! I order them online occasionally now. I believe I will order some of the Freddie candies and give them a try, thanks for the link!
I watched the video of The Show Must Go On, well done by the group and it also makes me long for a concert. Hopefully some day again!
LSgp, I’m glad there wasn’t too much damage from the hurricane, I have been watching the progress and it is amazing considering how strong and organized it is.

Hi MHZ there was a ton of damage. Every house and building damaged. Looks like a war zone. It’s just that a 9-13 foot wall of water, or surge, was expected but didn’t happen. That’s the insane part. The no flooding part. Oh but there is huge damage. At least without the flooding rescue, utility vehicles and residents can assess the damage and rebuild. No one would have been able with flooding.

Katydyd5, where do you buy Quality Street chocolates in the U.S.? When my sister and I were in NYC last March - before the lockdown - we had afternoon tea, for 2, at Tea & Sympathy, a British restaurant, in the West Village. Next door, Carry On Tea & Sympathy sells British groceries, tea, teapots, etc. I telephoned them today. They only sell Quality Street chocolates over Xmas and they should be available for order online in Nov. http://www.teaandsympathy.com/shop. I saw that Amazon sells Quality Street, but I'd rather give my dollars to a mom-and-pop shop.
Speaking of NatGeo, years ago, I used to subscribe but the stacks do multiply like rabbits on your bookshelves! Today, I've been following NatGeo and NatGeo Travel on Instagram. It takes up less space.
Jo, I get my Quality Street from the Vermont Country Store catalogue. I'm going to check out your link too and see which is more economical.

Wow, a quiet stretch for the gang! I was really busy this weekend, I had another agility trial with my dogs. They did well, so we had a good time.
Sorry to hear about the hurricane damage LSgp, oddly we have not heard much about it up here. I guess the riots and election are kind of dominating the news scene. This is my least favorite time of year too...where all the election stuff takes over and there are constant advertisements. It seems like they don’t report on anything else.
I have to ask if anyone watched Rudi’s show last week, where he told some stories about Roger Taylor? Kind of fun! I didn’t realize that Rudi hung out with Roger that much so it was nice to hear some things in him. And this past Sunday’s show was a bit sad, one of Rudi’s friends has cancer and is close to the end, so the show was about him. Very touching! I must say...Rudi talks a lot about Falco, and I love how he pronounces his name. I could listen to Rudi say “Falco” for hours!
I am now absorbed in watching the US Open tennis tourney, and I am so glad it is back on TV!
