JB050...I bet businesses and restaurants near the new Freddie Mercury street are extremely happy with the Council's decision. Think of how many people will go there to have their picture taken under the sign, and then decide to do some shopping or go out to eat.

Hope you are all keeping safe and feeling well.in these times of renewed vigour of this damned virus!
MHZ your koi sound lovely. They can live upwards of 60 years, so George could be with you for a long while.
They do indeed suffer from.travel stress, and need to be floated in a bag or bucket of their original travel water to.equalise the temperature.
Did you read what happened to Freddie's koi way back in 2005 or something ? Some had gone wrong with the filtration system.or something after a piscine maintenance company had attended and a whole lot of Freddie's poor koi perished. They were worth tens of thousands of £'s. Such a terrible shame. Freddie would have been terribly distraught. I know Mary was talking of suing.
Funnily enough I messenger'd Gary Taylor today about a price and postage on the Queen Touring North America book! He replied almost straight away.I

Good to see you FD! Gary Taylor was quick to reply to me too, but I'm confused. Wasn't the Touring North America book his first? If so , I thought that was out of print. He's just come out with a new one and title is something like European Tour and UK. I'd be more interested in having the North American tour book. Did you order it?? The European tour book was fairly expensive by the time I factored in postage so I had decided to pass on this one but if the first one is still available I need to rethink.

Finally, I just finished the book Plague Years by Ross Slotten. Someone here recommended it but I'm not sure who it was. Slotten was a doctor in Chicago during the early years of the AIDS epidemic. The book was educational and heart breaking on many levels.. I finished it in two days because it was hard to put down. It's informative about the history of the treatment of AIDS, but it is also a personal memoir. Slotten, who is gay shares stories of his own life and offers a window into gay life at the time, discussing many topics we have explored here. I highly recommend the book. Thanks to whoever brought it to my attention!

Katydyd...I also decided to pass on the new Gary Taylor book because of the cost to ship to the US, but it does look like a fantastic book. I am more interested in the "Queen Touring America" book as well. The Mick Rock paperback book that I recently purchased is not very large...about 9.5"x 7". I'm sure that is why the print is so small. I would like to read "The Plague Years", but will wait until it comes out in paperback before ordering. Sounds like an intense story. (Thereuhaveit was the one who recommended it.) Currently I am reading, "All But My Life" by Gerda Klein. It's an autobiography of a young woman who survived imprisonment during the Holocaust. Sobering!

I just contacted Gary and got a quick response. He says the American tour book is sold out and no copies are available. The book he is advertising now is the European Tour book. Darn, I was really hoping I might get my hands on a copy of the first book. FD, I didn't realize he was working on another one. He gets such good reviews on his books that I'd really like to own one at some point.

Someone help an old person's memory - I don't think Freddie made that many songs before starting on Barcelona but weren't those included on some big compilation later?
Really torn about the Europe/UK touring book. I hear great things about the American one that, of course, you can't get anymore. Are you hearing the same about this one? I'd hate to miss out again but can't find any really good info on this new one. I should just go by the reviews but I always have a hard time buying something w/o knowing anything that's in it.

I also got a copy of As It Began and a couple others I'm hoping are worthwhile (Queen by Jeff Hudson and In Their Own Words by Mich St. Michael - prices are really low right now). Glad you enjoyed the book, was hesitant but thought the description and price were worth a shot. And, like St Jiub said, purchases of Queen items ARE mandatory.....lol!
JB, the street cinches my move. Was thinking about where to go when/if I ever finally, completely give up on IL. Hope there are homes for sale on that street!

Freddie Darling and Katydyd....Once again...Thank you both for clarifying the book info! I am really sorry now that I hesitated on Gary's first book. I am hoping for a second printing. I suppose it's quite difficult when one self-publishes. The author doesn't want to order too many books and possibly end up stacks of them left over. I wonder how many of the American Tour books Gary originally had printed up? I bet he could sell many more now that so many people know what a quality book it is.

I think my husband subscribes to St.Jiub's "You must buy everything Queen related" school of thought. He just gave me a deck of Queen playing cards that he recently ordered for me. They are great...all the pictures are different. I have a little Queen section on our computer desk (which is now my work space since I've been working from home) This is where I display my Royal Mail stamps, my Royal Mint Queen coin, my new Queen cards, a Freddie Mercury wrist watch (when I'm not wearing it), my "All Is One" Freddie pin from the Hard Rock Cafe, and two tiny Freddie Legos. It's my Queen happy space.

Actually, I was joking. My attitude about Queen releases has soured over the last six years. I have skipped the last three Queen box sets after the Rainbow Box set, as I feel they were too expensive for having mostly already released stuff.
St. Jiub. Well, I am certainly not going to discourage my husband from showering me with a little Queen joy now and then! LOL. Besides, I am mostly referring to non-album items. I know that boxed sets are very important to many people. I only have 1 box set..."Queen: The Studio Collection". That is the one with the colored vinyl records. That's good enough for me. It sounds like you have more than one box set...which one is your favorite?
I only have two box sets - Rainbow (live in '74) and Roger's "The Lot". The Rainbow box set is my favorite with a live version of The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke.
