Katy, I agree you guys got a nice group here I just don’t know if this one group of good people will be enough to hold this whole place. I understand your feelings and you’ve built a great group of friendships here.

Saint Jiub, I've always liked John,, just not my favorite. I'm going to be totally trite and tell you that my favorite song of his is................nah, you probably already know.
I just checked through some of the other forums here on QZ. Normally I only look at General and Personal, but a couple of the others are active too. Maybe I predicted the death of QZ too soon. I've always felt that if people don't enjoy the forums then don't post and I do wish there was something they could do about the bots. Thor's threads were my introduction to QZ and it was just so sad to see them trashed. He worked hard to create a community and it must have been hard for him to see it destroyed. He wasn't suggesting that QZ be shut down, only that the thread bearing his name be removed. Actually I feel pretty badly for Richard too. Oh well, I'll hang in here as long as we can.

MHZ...I watched the live chat with Brian, Roger, and Adam the other day. I expected the questions to mostly focus on the new album, so no surprises there. I really enjoyed seeing the three of them together in the same room, especially Brian after all of his recent health issues. They seem hopeful, yet realistic about the concerts next year. I will be really surprised if it happens.
I was also notified that I didn't win the Mercury Phoenix Trust drawing. Glad they raised so much money. I didn't order the live CD or vinyl album...but I did order the cassette. One of my favorite Christmas gifts ever was a small cassette player my parents gave to me when I was young! I thought the cassette would be a fun purchase. I can't imagine ever buying another one again.
Katydyd....My husband got the playing cards through Amazon. By the way, did you ever try your Freddie chocolates? I was going to save my first box and eat from the second one I ordered (which still has not come in) but I couldn't wait. I have now eaten half of them. I thought the chocolate was pretty good. Curious what you thought.
I, too, would most definitely consider myself an introvert and rather on the shy side. As such, I would be like the rest of you who prefer to watch more than participate while at a convention. Karaoke...no way. Costume contest...no to that as well. Would not want people looking at me. I would love to hear the guest speakers and look at the merchandise. Just being among other people who are equally enthusiastic about Queen would be a blast.
St. Jiub....So, how did you do in the air guitar and costume contests that you told us about? You sound like the most daring one out of all of us here! Speaking of trivia contests, I watched the Queen Virtual Convention on Saturday. They had a Queen Quiz...20 trivia questions. I did abysmally. I only got 4 correct. Yikes...I thought I knew more than that...apparently not.
Amidds...For a while everything that pertained to Queen and Freddie was so outlandishly priced. Glad to hear some of the prices are starting to come down. A while back I ordered a Freddie tee shirt that I found on eBay. It was different than others I had seen before...looks like a painting. I've uploaded a picture I found online of the same shirt.

Rainbow, I'll have to check out Amazon for the cards. I think your husband seems to do a great job of finding special things for you! As for the chocolates, nope, haven't tried them. I did show them to my kindred spirit granddaughter this weekend and she really wanted to try some. I like your tee shirt!
St Jiub, I kind of glossed over your convention experiences. I think I was so surprised that I was left speechless, and LOL, you should enjoy that when it happens. It did change my perception of you and I think it's really fun that you participated so actively. I'd have liked to have seen that!

Amidds, it will be fun to hit up Breakthru with a group...let’s hope the virus is completely behind us by then! I’ll be interested to hear about your new book, I think I’ve seen it before but never actually tried to get it. How do you find stuff to buy on EBay? Whenever I am on there I don’t seem to find much good stuff, but I am probably not searching the right way. I will admit, EBay intimidates me quite a bit so I don’t use it that often.
Katy, I saw Thor’s post on here, I hope they figure a way to close his thread. I am wondering, I saw on his go fund me he was asking for addresses to send his book to those that contributed. I messaged him from go fund me and also replied to an email he sent thanking me for my contribution, but I never heard back in confirmation that he got it. Do you know a good way to contact him? I do hope that Queenzone survives, it seems as if the endless bickering has stopped (for the most part) and that is a relief. If they could control the bots I think things would pick up again!
Rainbow, I am so bummed that I missed the virtual convention! I wasn’t even doing anything and I just forgot, grrrrrr. I thought they were going to send a notification when it started, but I didn’t get anything. Still, I should have set a reminder. And how cool is it that you got a cassette? I will admit, when I saw they were selling a cassette I was shocked and figured no one would buy them! I still have my old Sony Walkman, that is the only cassette player I have to even listen to one.
Saint J, I am a huge Fan of JD too, my favorite song of his is Misfire. I like all his songs, they are so different from what the other guys came up with, but still great songs and in a style all their own.

So very sad to read today that the amazing rock guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, has died. He was an incredible musician. I always wanted to be able to play his guitar solo in Michael Jackson's "Beat It". Eddie was one of the guitarists on Brian May's "Star Fleet Project" and was someone Brian greatly admired. I'm sure Brian will post a lovely tribute to Eddie on his website.
MHZ, I think he was disgusted to see his friends bashed on here as well as Freddie and a book being judged that wasn’t even out yet. That’s where I draw the line they attacked my family , me, and then flashed picks of Thor’s friends and possibly deceased friends and a very sad comment that really hit home to me and overwhelmed me. My grandmother lost her son at 37 and then my mother as most of you know my uncle died of AIDS. I remember him being the most important person in my life. When he passed many in our small town made terrible comments behind my grandparents back as to how he got it. They knew he was gay and some women said he deserved what he got. How does any human being have the right to make such judgement on another persons life. But during me defending my family and that troll flashing that picture with the caption on AIDS it made me think stop arguing with her right now this is enough. These people can’t defend themselves. It made me sad and made me sick for weeks. To the point I couldn’t return. So I understand why he would be just a little upset and want this whole place gone.

Last night when I put up my longer post, I had included a link to the playing cards my husband ordered for me on Amazon. The link was one of those crazy, long links that is multiple lines long. Well...right after I posted, I noticed that this entire page was off. I couldn't read anything without scrolling from side to side as the writing now extended beyond the margins. None of the other pages were like that, and this page was not like that before I posted, so I knew it was something I had done. Yikes! I figured it must be related to the link. I have never edited anything before, but figured this was a good time to learn as I didn't want this page messed up for everyone else. I started hovering over icons until I found the one for "edit this post". That sounded promising. Fortunately, I was able to remove the link and that solved the problem! It was a bit of a stressful few minutes though as I pictured having to issue multiple mea culpas for ruining this thread!
Saint Jiub...You seem computer savvy...any ideas why this happened?

Rainbow, you may have learned to use the "edit" button, but clearly I am still learning to quote. I know what I did wrong, I think but I'm afraid to try to edit to correct. I still would like the link for the cards Rainbow. Hmmmm......

MHZ, you are correct, Thor doesn't want to shut down QZ. He simply wants his thread removed because it became so ugly a battleground for trolls. . I think QZ will survive. It has been more pleasant lately and I do see more people posting in different areas As for your address, at one point he said that he and Lee would contact those they still needed address from and I would think they have already done that. I never got an email when i first contributed so you are lucky! If you are worried you could contact him on GFM again or even try PM here though I don't think he comes in at all. I was surprised to see him last night though I did know he had seen all the defenseless garbage on his thread,
EDIT: Sorry for the blank post. I had to redo my quote because I did it wrong the first time. Also, I just looked at Thor's thread and many of the offending posts have been removed, as have several other threads that were truly offensive.
No the other threads weren’t Katy they are still present Talking about Thor and his Friends and me trying to defend them in many posts resulting in me getting attacked.Throwing the word AIDS around like they shouldn’t have feelings .The only thing removed was Freddie dearies attack on me.The bullying is still there . They are going to have to put moderators on this place. I know this doesn’t affect you because this thread is smooth for now.MHZ Thor will reach you he reached me. Just give him some time
I belong to a Dolly Parton fan club open forum and others this doesn’t go on it makes me question the type of fans that this place has drawn
