Hello everyone, So a couple of years back, QZ user 'Bullub' created a compilation and merged together all the available Bob Harris footage that was shot for an upcoming documentary for the Old Grey Whistle Test. That post can be found here: http://www.queenzone.com/forums/1448556/news-of-the-world-40-minute-documentary-about-queen.aspx Since then, new clips have appeared on the 2017 (40th anniversary docs on NOTW) and in the Bejart Ballet (which I forgot to include in this version of the video). I decided to update and also fix up they're original video and I'm presenting it here first so that I can get some feedback before sharing it properly. -Chin

Brilliant job.

At 52:53 the tape actually plays back a bit too slowly - the rehearsal audio ends up sounding a semitone too low.

Apart from that it all seems great to me. 56:34 is Sleeping On The Sidewalk - great catch.

Yeah, someone else pointed that out to me already and the new version is exporting now. I’ve also added photos to fill the gaps of the long, blank segments.

Also, made new intro credits for the title.

Hi,
I'm watching this version and are you sure about the identification of the tour shots? I was under the impression (not sure why) that Freddie in his white/silver/whatever "jacket" is Houston and Freddie in his brown/black/depends-on-the-source "jacket" is The Omni in Atlanta. Not sure if it's correct, but it made sense to me.

However in your Omni segment (I am watching it right now), you first have Freddie in his "white" "jacket" around 1:02:40, then a few seconds later around 1:02:57 you see him in the black one, and in the right next shot starting at 1:02:58 he has the "white" jacket on again

Pittrek is correct.

@ 1:02:59 it's the rehearsals at Shepperton Studios. Mercury and the lighting director Joe Trovato are discussing the lights, and that's not something that would happen mid-tour.

Compare it to 53:30 - that's the same room.

Such a bloody shame that we never got to see the full things which i'm sure contains hours of outtakes. This could be one of the best documentaries made of the band up to 1977.
So that you making this is a nice gesture. I\m sure it was alot of work because tons of documentaries features clips of the Bob Harris doc. The Magic Years, Champions Of The World (although credited as 1973), Days Of Our Lives, From Rags To Rhapsody, Rocks The World. i'm sure i'm forgetting a few.

I noticed again something strange - when "Dave" leaves the stage with Freddie, his shirt is black, e.g.1:19:00 . When they cut to the next shot, at 1:19:09, the film quality changes and "Dave" has a blue shirt on. When the video cuts again to the next shot, to the bad quality shot, Dave has again a black shirt on.

However it looks like nothing else is different, right? So what is it - different lighting / different film stock / different colour correction during the scanning? Or a time jump? I'm just trying to put everything in chronological order, and the scene in which he has the blue shirt doesn't fit anywhere else, do bands not usually go directly to their dressing room to get rid of the sweaty clothes?

Thanks for all your input guys, really appreciate it. By any chance does anyone know where I could get more of the audio recordings done by Andrew Perry, it's the really clear audio from the SIS 2011 exhibition. I took the audio from this YouTube video to sync up with Leo Pelz's footage: -Chin

Also yeah, feel free to comb through and work out the chronological order of stuff. It’s one of those cases where I’ve looked at the footage too much, so I need a fresh pair of eyes to give it the once over haha.

Good catch - one is short sleeved, one is long. So clearly it's two different nights.

We'll probably never know everything about this footage.

Also one quick note to Chin - the concert footage is the same(?) in both of the 2017 documentaries (American Dream / Rock the World). One of the documentaries has the "fake" song titles (Spread Your Wings, It's Late etc.) on screen, the other one doesn't. You might consider switching to the other source for the shots with the wrong song titles

It is, more or less. But the TV version in HD is better quality than the DVD, and there's a bit more of the live Get Down Make Love in one of them instead of the Shepperton rehearsal footage.
