Can I ask what are the resources for the sections starting at 3:48 and the extended "packing the equipment" scene? I don't think I have seen them before this thread
Chinwonder2 · Member since
The extra scenes in the packing segment come from the 'American Dream' DVD & leaving the hotel clip comes from the ending of the TV edit, just before the Queen + AL WATC bit.

Really? I haven't actually watched it since 2017 thinking that the BBC documentary has all of the scenes, but in HD. Thanks.
BTW I personally like the last version the most, I think it's as good as it can be without some more official information (or reference photos from the concerts)

Well, I'm currently exporting the full V2 with everything updated since you kind folks chimed in :)
I've also remade the short intro that 'Bullub' created, just using the new HD footage and created a new splash text intro to emulate a real broadcast of it on the OGWT. Just for fun haha

Pittrek is correct.
@ 1:02:59 it's the rehearsals at Shepperton Studios. Mercury and the lighting director Joe Trovato are discussing the lights, and that's not something that would happen mid-tour.
Compare it to 53:30 - that's the same room.

Yes absolutely.
The other major giveaway is that the footage of the lighting truss being lowered is obviously not the crown but the lighting as rigged for rehearsals ad mentioned by Brian May.
A small technical point from a rigging prospective is that the chains at rehearsal were flown using hand cranks, as the footage shows, rather than 1t or 2t electric motors which the crown used.

Hello everyone,
So a couple of years back, QZ user 'Bullub' created a compilation and merged together all the available Bob Harris footage that was shot for an upcoming documentary for the Old Grey Whistle Test. That post can be found here: http://www.queenzone.com/forums/1448556/news-of-the-world-40-minute-documentary-about-queen.aspx
Since then, new clips have appeared on the 2017 (40th anniversary docs on NOTW) and in the Bejart Ballet (which I forgot to include in this version of the video). I decided to update and also fix up they're original video and I'm presenting it here first so that I can get some feedback before sharing it properly.

Great work. Just had a chance to watch it all the way through. Thanks for posting it.

This is monumental. I wanted to do the same thing last year and I got tired by checking all the sources for the best quality etc., before even finishing it.
I still have my unfishined project and all the videos, so I'll watch this version soon and see if I can add anything.
Reading this thread has been very enjoyable and enlightening. I love this "sleuthing" threads when something new can be learnt. This is why I became a member of this forum.
Thanks a LOT Chin and Bullub for your hard work, and everyone who contributed to this thread.

There is by the way this black and white footage shot (I assume) in 1977 London which was shown in Magic Years I - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISv4rRuBeas starting at 8:31

Pittrek, I think London was filmed by DoRo in 1987

It's 80's footage, one of the Buses has an Advert for Tower Records on the side, which wasn't a franchise in the UK until 1985 when they opened at Piccadilly circus.
