I'm pretty sure that I read an interview with Robbie from / in the early 2000s where he said that he asked Brian and Roger to join them and that Brian was excited for the idea[/QUOTE]

Self publicist, he recorded We Are The Champions the press announced he was lined up to tour with them, in the same way that Roger Daltrey and George Micheal were named just after the Freddie tribute as being lined up. The press like a good story. . .

The difference is Williams played on the story, at a gig in Manchester he announced that Brian and Roger were back stage checking him out for the job. . . he started using a cut down mic stand basically milking the Queen/Freddie conection.

Robbie has always been very up front about his neurosis and bipolar disorder (chronic depression) and seeing a performance as putting on a persona to be larger than life when in fact he was quite the opposite off-stage.
I bit similar to how Freddie would approach his live work. All of this in combination with his drug abuse past makes me also believe Rogers doubts of reliability.

Having said that, I have always loved Robbies music and visual take on entertainment and a small project of recording and album for instance with Queen could have been very interesting. However vocally he would never have reached the heights (pun intended) Adam Lambert has now.

it sounded like a great idea at the time, but as others have pointed out, the ego would have triumphed and caused the whole thing to collapse. didnt`he recently dress up as robert plant just to piss jimmy off? i wonder if that feud is over with.

Did John Deacon's intervention not play a part in stopping Robbie Williams becoming Queen's New lead singer? Mark Blake has suggested it did in his Queen book.

I remember RW telling press he may be joining a famous rock band before walking off etc he was considered for the job, RT said in an old interview he was considered but RW was not a team player that interview was on TV years ago, plus the fact John's disapproval of "Robbie is no Freddie Mercury" etc. We know how desperate BM and RT can sometimes be. RW does not have the vocal ability to carry off Queen's material, he's also narcissistic, however I do believe RW is telling the truth 100% regarding this story.

What do you know?

Anyway, who cares who they wanted? It has been a fucking car crash since they even came up with the idea of replacing Freddie.

And which version of Let Me Entertain You would they have done?

Maybe a mash up.

Brian is a bit of a funny one - he always (quite strangely) tried to associate himself with hard rock types through the 80's and 90's but then dragged the Queen brand into "collaborating" with Five, Robbie Williams, Lambert etc and his work with West End actress/singer Kerry Ellis.

I'm no fan of Williams, but he couldn't have been any worse than Lambert. An already established fanbase and actually some level of personality for a kick off.

^ Is there any chance the admin here could remove this fucker from the forum once and for all?

While I can't stand Lambert's voice more than 30 seconds (that's being generous), Robbie's voice is not compatible with Queen's back catalog too. If Maylor & Robbie were to collaborate on a new project like The Cosmos Rocks, that's another question, that would've been actually interesting.

Too bad they didn't do more than 1992 tribute and Five Live EP with George Michael, he was a creative force back then and powerhouse of a singer.

George Michael was excellent at times. But has never done anything I’m aware of remotely resembling a rock song.

And his dance/ pop/ funk credentials were way ahead of Brian and Rogers. I’m just not sure how it could have worked.

Proof positive that the decision making process in what was / is left of "Queen" is utterly flawed and relied / relies solely on the success of OTHER artists to make MayLor even remotely relevant.

A kindred spirit for you then.

Could you write that in English please?
