Interesting development in a long forgotten act. My bet would be that he MAY have been asked. .. particularly since i was not a fan at the time but he'd done shows at the since demolished HOUSE OF BLUES and others wherein he'd been fooling with Queen covers.
However, a part of me thinks he's just trying to be news worthy again.
Thoughts?

yeah. i think there's some substance in it.
they'd just finished recording together - the vibe would be either great or shit. obviously, however good it felt was heightened by the accomplishment of the finished recording.
also in 2001 - RW was a big ticket, two huge solo albums. He'd just come off the back of the success of his sell-out USA "1999 Eagle Has Landed tour, so it makes sense that it could've helped shoehorn Queen back into the US.
Perhaps his "nervousness" worked in his favour. Two years later he sold out Knebworth.

Well, I think I'd prefer him (from that era, of course), rather than Adam Lambert. Also, if they were to do it, better do it then, than later. Of course, it wouldn't be the same thing and all that, but that could have given them the platform to release some new, worthy music, while Brian and Roger were still creative.

Robbie couldn't be any worse than Adam Lambert.

Probably true to some extent, their WATC version is cool. Not that it matters at this point in time.

I like Robbie. Not sure if it would have worked on a permanent basis though.

Beyond cringeworthy. I’d actually take Lambert over him. He knows his place.

I read somewhere that Robbie Williams is a successful Adam Lambert......

Sold Knebworth 3 times. That kind of popularity could be very weird. And could've been a good thing to fire up Queen.

It's amazing how people have lost the plot.
Are there any other boy band singers or reality TV performers we would like to see?
Anyone else want to dismiss the artistry of Bohemian Rhapsody ?
You would like to see RW false modesty / super ego / Blackpool club peformer schtick.
Lost tribe. No wonder QPL ignore their real fans. There aren't any.

That's not how Roger made it come off in an interview from the past few years. He had intimated that it had been considered but that there were worries that he wouldn't be reliable or something. Take that with a grain of salt though....

I think he is telling the truth. But in 2000 we had Queen +Five WWRY which was embarrassing despite its commercial success, Robbie was huge however his pop background would have created a backlash to Queen. The years went by and the things changed so Adam was accepted in a way by many...
I remember in 90s where George Micheal was to be their singer after the tribute concert or his visit during Made in Heaven recording sessions and 1999 Queen recording some new songs.

Ego would've sunk this project. (Like with Bowie but worse.)

I'm pretty sure that I read an interview with Robbie from / in the early 2000s where he said that he asked Brian and Roger to join them and that Brian was excited for the idea
