I've first heard the song "The Miracle" on FM radio. The reception (in my TV!) was so bad ...as also was my English. For weeks I used to think that the song was called "It's America", and I've phoned the radios several times per day requesting the song by that name: "...and I want to hear "It's America" by QUEEN, pleeease".

I used to wonder if Bulsara was an Italian name--thought Freddie might look Italian...did not learn about the fascinating India-Persia Parsee background until the 90's.

1) The first time I ever heard Queen on the radio, i thought the singer was a woman.
2) I thought that Brian looked scary. (Okay, folks, cut me some slack, I was a rather imaginative nine-year-old.)
3) That the costumes were extremely dorky-looking. (Wait...I still think that.)
4) That I was about the only person who liked this band (and living where I do, you can't blame me.)
5) That all the band members were dead.

Before seeing the lyrics to Keep Yourself Alive in print, I thought "belladonic haze" was "a bed of donney kays"--thought those must be flowers that grew in the UK but not here in the US!

My first album that I brought was GH1 when I was 9. I was shocked to learn that John was actually Roger, id got them mixed up and I was horrified to learn that the lead singer of Queen was Freddie Mercury......not Eddie Murphy! :D

You must've mistaken Queen with Rush, my dear.

"5) That all the band members were dead."
Thought that too, at one point. When I was just getting into the band, I would tell my friends, and they'd be like, "Oh, is that the band that's dead?" The looks of confusion I gave them...

Also, I believed that the way the songs were sequenced on an album was the way that they were recorded in the studio, and that they were recorded in only one take. I would get confused when I'd read interviews with Brian or Roger saying it took the band so many months to record the albums. I'd say to myself, "But it's only 42 minutes long...what the hell?!"

Funny, Lester, I thought the same thing for the longest time. Then I learned how long it takes to make a 30-second film.

And LOL to B_M_W!

Early on I confused John and Brian, and also, I thought Queen were an American band. Then I got GHI and saw the British flag patch on John's jacket and the light began to dawn...

1) I thought that Frederick Mercury was French.

2) I thought that Brian May and Howard Stern were the same people.

3) I thought that Freddie sang lead vocals on all songs.

4) I was sure that TSMGO and IWIA were written by Freddie.

5) I was sure that they used a choir on several songs such as Teo Torriate.

6) I was sure that Barcelona was recorded with a philharmonic orchestra,

7) I thought that all songs from Made In Heaven were new.

8) I still think that Freddie faked his death ;-)

Apparently Brain gets that a lot. Being mistaken for Howard, that is ;P

And I thought Teo Toriatte was recorded with a choir.

In the beginning I thought that the videos were filmed while the band recorded the songs. That is why the song in the video was the exact same as the one on the album.
I remember wondering what the videos for songs like Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon looked like thinking the filmed the recording of every song.

The first time i heard queen, i didn't like them at all. My brother in law had the classic queen album. For some reason everytime i went over there i had to listen to queen. i have no idea but i was drawn to them. i thought they were quite femimine looking as well especially roger. haha. My sister told me they all used to simulate anal sex on stage or something like that and that threw me off a bit because it sounds so weird .. but i learned that that was all nonsense. I also thought that brian sang on under pressure too. i was a bit bugged by that one.. ha

I was listening to queen for quite a while before i knew their names. and one day i found a love song collection cd at home, with "too much love will kill you". in the inlay card it said that it was performed by Brian May and I was like "what the hell? who does HE think that he is?" when I realized it was a member of the band I felt kind of stupid. what an idiot! lol
